Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod GREAT race today for me! I had the best swim EVER! 27 minutes for 1000m in a race is UNHEARD of for me! I actually just kept going and going in the water---I didn't need to rest at all---total breakthrough. As for the bike, it was S-L-O-W--but when you consider that out of 22 miles, about 13.5 of it was steep uphills, AND I have barely been able to train in about 2 weeks, AND my asthma was trying to kill me, I am not disappointed at all. The Run also went well, though by that point my body basically said it was NOT happy--and I really had to pee (this was really bad when people would make me laugh, and of course my tri club is always entertaining at the aid station they run, so that was kind of iffy. Over all, I am totally happy with my race! Its considered one of the toughest local races there is in this area.---the Half Ironman distance they put on is known as the 'world's toughest' and I don't think they are too off base with that. I am now looking forward to my first Olympic in August--which has considerably less hills! At least I know I can do the swim now! First though, another sprint in July--in which I can redeem myself on my worst race from last year! Race report will be done once I see my results--and after I relax a bit! Congrats other PR-ing and racing manatees!!!! |

One of those that are really far away and so look really dim. Yeah the suit helped the swim but I need to work on my stripper ability... (Allen insert Joke Here) i thought you would have had loads of practice since the overtime cuts, you know, with the ladies parties and stuff. Does the lipstick wash off your work shirt easily? Sorry, you asked for it. Literally. Allen you need to log all these great pearls of wisdom you are imparting on Salty I'm guessing there all being stored away in Salty's dark recesses. |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod bcraht - 2012-05-20 1:49 AM OK pod members, need some help. I am racing on Monday as you know. Wasn't going to go too hard, mostly wanted the swim race practice. I am scheduled to do another sprint next Saturday--signed up to do it with a friend. It is a pool swim, I would have been racing first. I was going to do the swim, wait for her, then do the bike and run together. Point being I was not going to go hard at all, just would be fun to do with a friend. I am also possibly doing a charity half marathon in June. So now my friend has injured her ankle and can't do the race. And I skipped my long run today so that I wasn't too fatigued for Monday. Soooooo, question. Do I do both races easy? Do I do 'race' the race on Monday and do the one on Saturday easy. Do I race Monday and skip Saturday? Do I do my long run tomorrow and go easy on Monday? hellllllllllp! I'd race Monday and skip/easy next Saturday but -- is the half marathon an A race? If so, that might change the answer. |

Down she goes in front of lots of interested onlookers! Oops! Good work! It's scary at first! I did the slow motion fall over because she forgot to unclip thing as well. I wonder what the neighborhood walkers thought when they saw that?! I'm glad that you got your water bottle back ;-) |

Well, I would like to race the half, because I am competitive and would like to beat my previous time, but it is only my second and I sorta 'fell' into it, so no, not an A. As it is supposed to rain pretty good tomorrow and be sunny next Saturday, I may race on Sat and take it easier tomorrow. But I may just see how I feel and race both. As you can see, I have made a firm decision and I am sticking to it.... |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod bcraht - 2012-05-20 6:47 PM so, I have to respond to this on my phone, I'm sorry the formatting will be crazy. Anyway, I say race them both as hard as you can and just keep your weekly running volume as high as you can (assuming you will be skipping your long runs) I think high intensity racing can sub in for the mileage in this case. Just be sure to get a couple longs in before your HM. Also, just remain flexible in terms of your goals and don't get hung up on times. You can only do what you can do, ya know? It really is that simple. I give you this advice from a similar situation.jmkizer - 2012-05-20 4:36 PM bcraht - 2012-05-20 1:49 AM OK pod members, need some help. I am racing on Monday as you know. Member 892 England | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod Serious question for y'aalll. I have found a rather tempting olympic distance Tri that is run on 12th Aug. My original goal was to do a tri at this distance as i didn't even know that sprints existed. It still remains a goal. So do you think that i can prepare for it in only 11 weeks, especially considering my current base fitness is not too good. My typical training is just run 5 km, bike 16km and swim 500m (not all necessarily in the same week!!!). I would have to jump to 10km run, 42 km bike and 1500m OWS, all in the same day. Yikes. |
