amd723 - 2013-02-04 3:32 PM I was slammed at work today, so this is the first opportunity I've had to look at this thread. Once again I find myself way behind! So, congrats to all who raced so successfully this past weekend and to those whose health is improving. Salty, I know you put up a warning about your encounter, but like a train crash, I had to look. I'm sorry I did and can't believe you didn't say something or do something to Mr Spanks.Yanti, that is some tan line you're sporting in your latest avitar

and there is now coffee dripping down my monitor...

Seriously? Did you have to use the word "dripping?" Wink

Bu to Ann-Marie's point, I know. I contemplated calling the cops for a long time but seriously I have had the worst experience with 911 operators in the past I just didn't feel like dealing with them. I know that is totally selfish.

And, now I gagged.

Whaddya recon the cops would do?  I mean, he was in the privacy of his own (at least I hope) vehicle...

Can you imagine being the officer that tapped on his window at the penultimate moment?  Bwahahahahahahahahahaha

Yeah but he was on a public (in fact very public roadway.) I imagine he'd get a ticket at a minimum for indecent exposure, potentially worse.

Hahaha I'd hate to be THAT cop.

Definitely at least indecent exposure. In Florida that is a criminal offense. But, I wasn't even thinking about you calling 911, I just figured you'd have something explosive to say to him.

No I was speechless. Imagine that.

Plus I try to avoid situations where I am communicating with men who have their d*ck out.

I tried to edit the "explosive" comment, just in case it was a step too far ; but I guess I wasn't fast enough! I will not comment on your lack of communication with men in certain situations. If I did, things would really devolve

I love the idea of 30/30. I workout every day right now as it is. I'm just trying to struggle through this IT Band tho. Actually I wonder if that would be better for me anyway to do more short runs since I can't really do a long run right now?

Yeah. I would definitely just stick to short runs for now. Keep them nice and easy while your IT band is healing up.

Ran 2.5 miles today.  Won't be able to workout until at least Thursday since my husband is going to be working in DC tomorrow morning (super early) until Thursday.  No idea when he is getting back Thursday - all depends on the crazy DC traffic.

Abso-effen-lutely. The idea is you take the volume you're currently running and break it up into 7. (Don't do them any harder!)

Good Day Manatees, I hope all is well with each and every one of you.

TX Jonathan - Good news on the legs. I hope you take it nice and easy, don't over do it and are quickly on the mend.
Yanti - I hope and pray that you are NOT going to get ill again. Things are going too well for this race, so no getting sick, got it??? Keep eating.
Jo - I hope that you are doing ok with the SIL being there. Just keep in mind that there is an end in sight, although it may not be easy to see it sometimes. The race is long, this is simply endurance training for you
TJ - Great job on the long ride this weekend!!! I agree with Stacey on the streaking. Keep your primary goal in mind and don't do anything to mess with Oceanside.
Jen - Keep the running going, great job!
Janyne - I hope the blister issue is one that you can work through and it doesn't derail anything. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Salty - You did warn me, but it was something I couldn't avoid, I had to read it. I had to wonder, who was he on the phone with that he couldn't wait until he got home??? It was just many levels of wrong.

The Pink pics combined with a conversation here at work got me thinking about next year's Super Bowl entertainment. Has it been announced yet? I think Pink would do a good job, but believe that Bon Jovi is the obvious choice. I don't think they've done it yet, but I guess this just shows how very little I care.

Been livin' on the edge. We got last minute tickets to a concert last night (Cody Chestnutt, Built to Spill and surprise guest Macklemore) and then tonight someone else got us tickets to Fun.

I have to skip my bike class but they are covering brakes tonight and that is probably the component I am most comfortable with. Plus, I can make it up on Thursday if I so choose.

I'm starting to think about the Oly in August and figure out how I want to transport my bike. I am either going to go the cardboard route (which I have done before) or a local tri shop has the hard shell boxes that you can rent on a weekly basis.

Janyne - I hope the blister issue is one that you can work through and it doesn't derail anything. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Chris!  I hope that you are doing well too!

Yes, the blisters are just blisters.  The one on my left foot is large but not painful.  It's definitely caused by the orthotics.  I have an appointment to bring them back again. In the meantime, I have swapped back to SuperFeet again.

I have developed one on my right foot as well and it reminded my why I changed from Saucony's in the first place -- they run wide on my heel and narrow at the widest part of my foot.  Anyway, it's small and not really a problem.  I did an hour run at lunch today and both were OK.

A year or so ago, I was running in Saucony Guide's with blue superfeet (Guide's are motion control).  I had some issues and they running store swapped me to Brooks Ghost with green superfeet (Ghost is a neutral show and green gives more support than blue so end result somewhat similar).  The Ghosts and I got along great and then I developed that hip/psoas issue leading up to Vineman.  I'm still not sure if it was bike fit or running that was the root cause.  Anyway, that's where the orthotics came in.  After Vineman, I ran in the Ghosts with orthotics and that was great!  The bomb!  I did a half marathon in them and we were good!

Then the Ghosts needed to be replaced and Trouble started.  The new model of the Ghosts (Ghost 5) and the orthotics and my feet did not play well together at all.  I brought the Ghost 5s back to the running store and they swapped me to Saucony Ride's (neutral shoes) with the orthotics and that worked kinda for a while -- better than the Ghost 5s at least.  Until they didn't work well and I went back to the orthotics peeps.  The thing is, I would have kept the Brooks it I was going to run in superfeet, the only reason that I went back to the Saucony's was the orthotics.

Oh well, these shoes are about half gone anyway.  I can replace them after the Gator Half, right?

Since I've been thinking about running shoes a lot, what does the Pod think about heel-to-toe drop?  I'm asking because the Brooks Ghost 5 has a 11mm drop and the Saucony Ride 5 has an 8mm drop.

It seems to me that 3mm is a small enough difference that switching between the two heights in and of itself is not an issue biomechanically.  Is this something that I should consider when selecting my next pair of shoes?

Grrrrrr.  I hate it when they change the model!  Hope it all gets fixed up soon.

Agreed! And to the point of Saucony's, I used Guide 3's and 4's, but the 5's have a different feel, so I kinda shied away from them. I have Ride's that I got off a clearance table and only use lightly, and they have been good. I am now in Asisc 2170's that seem to be very good. But I am finding that my Pearl Izumi isoTransistions have been really better than I hoped for. I race in them and only lightly use them to train, but I really like them. Enough that I am now looking for PI's to train in.

I almost have as many shoes in the closet as my DW.  Ah heck, who am I kidding, she has 40 pairs of dress shoes, so I still have a ways to go to catch uup.

I don't have time right now, but I love shoe discussion. More when I get home later, I have to get back to work

I checked all of the local and online places that I could think of and went on eBay to try to get the Ghost 4s!  No luck!
