I've got fancy new tires on her since then. Dandruff is long gone Doug( well I hope it is June). TrevorC - 2009-06-11 8:47 AM Well, got home yesterday and look at the bike....There is only 1 water bottle cage, with no way to plug another one on it. The bottem stem or whatever its called is not round so couldnt put one on there if i wanted to. LOL, is that picture from yesterday with all the snow? Put an aerobottle on the front + the bottle on the frame = plenty of water for Olympic. For 1/2 and more you could put an x-lab or similar rear bottle ejector on the seat/post. Though most bigger events have bottle exchanges so you don't have to always bring all of your own liquids. But yes, I think I am going to buck up and throw an aero bottle on it. Knowing me, if I threw a double cage behind the seat, I'd loose a bottle every ride! |

I was going to do a TT this weekend but realized it was a 2 hr drive that goes the same route people take to the beach so probably a 3-4 hr drive each way and since I just finished driving 20+ hrs last week not interested in more driving. |

Knowing me, if I threw a double cage behind the seat, I'd loose a bottle every ride! Yeah thats why I called them bottle ejectors. For anything less than olympic I just use a single water bottle on the frame. Only bring out the aero for Olympics. On my road bike I use 2 bottles on the frame for longer rides. |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! Just wanted to say "Good Luck" everyone who is racing this weekend! Don't know if I'll be around much (like I post a lot anyway) - half day at work tomorrow and probably won't be around the computer much over the weekend. Looking forward to some race reports on Monday! |

I would rather carry less water (weight) and load up these, then grab water if/when neeeded. That is usually what I take on my training rides, so I stick with what I train with (for the most part). There have been races where stuff just doesn't go well and you need to make the necessary changes. I have dropped nutrition before and have to make due with what is on the course. Your ability to adapt will help you in the long run. Luckily I don't have too sensitive of a stomach (eat my words right.. 1/2 Iron this weekend...Something is going to happen now!!!) and can make do out on the course.... Look out, dumb question ahead.....do you stop at these aid stations? I always hear about these "mixing this and mixing that" stories during the race, but I never quite understand how it happens. I cannot imagine doing it on the fly. To answer your question, I have not mixed gels and H20, but it is on my list of things to try. In the link Tracy provided, there was a discussion of using Carb Pro and Nunn's together. I LOVE CarbPro because it settles well, but I HATE Nunn's. I am trying to figure out the best way to ingest the electrolytes. I would really like to slam a few Endurolytes and be done with it, but it takes time for them to digest and it probably isn't enough, even given my size. On top of all that, I am supposed to figure out how to add protein into this conncoction. Ugh. Too complicated. I want one thing in one bottle. Thanks for asking that question Suzy, I'm kind of baffled as to how it all works! So I just got my Infinit Special Formula and used it on my trainer ride this morning. I might add a little bit of cyto to it for flavor. But I was thinking of using my aerodrink for 2 scoops = 232 cal and a bottle on the downtube with another 2 scoops =232 cal and then a bottle of water in my other holder which I can refill along the way. I just don't think I can drink it if it's too concentrated. Then two bags of clif shots in my fuel box. And a couple of gels in my tri shirt. It seems like a lot of calories for 56 miles, but I did finish my sport drink for the olympic this past weekend along with one bag of clif shots and half of a bottle of water. I'm going to try it out on a long ride this weekend and will let you know how it goes. As per Steve's advice I think I'll switch to just water about 30 min before the end to see how my stomach feels and run about 15 minutes. LOL! My 300 cal/hr doesn't seem like much after reading this. But totally irrelevant because it works for you! I met a guy the other night who claims to put down 400 an hour in a 1/2... puke Yeah i should probably get better about nutrition, but I have been doing the same thing the whole time and haven't had any energy issues in races so far. Pre-Race - I drink a lot of water every day so always pretty well hydrated. Race Morning - Peanut Butter on toast/bagel/whatever bread is available., Powerbar all on the way to the race. Gel before the swim. During the race - I carry 2 bottles of water on the bike usually drink both bottles depending on the temp. Before I get off the bike I eat a gel. During the run - I drink water at aid stations. So pretty much no calories during the race. |

Suzy, I was doing the same thing, really only breathing out my nose and never using my mouth which isn't enough exhaling. I would get pretty tired very early swimming. Now I continuously breath out while swimming and it hasn't been an issue. |

Yeah but that thing is huge, a friend of mine got it and and it didn't fit on her bike. What distances are you planning on doing, I like to keep it simple personally. |

So the single one probably makes sense then. I can throw the water in the cage, and infinit in the aero. One day when I get tough, and do a HIM, I'll worry about then. |
