Woo Hoo! posting from home, our power just came back on this morning, it's been out since Friday, it's amazing what a :30 minute storm can do to an area.

Abby - "So your an Ironman now, where is my dog?"

A promise is a promise!  Cute dog!

I made it through my long run.  Us Midwesterners are not used to this humidity so it was a sufferfest.  I keep telling myself it's good practice, just in case September is a scorcher!

Very cute dogs! We're still on holiday on the Gold Coast, yesterday was another theme park, Movie World this time so lots of rollercoasters. Today my legs feel back to normal and we even did some walking up in the hills.

Saturday, we'll be visiting a Labrador breeder on our way home. I put down a deposit last week on a black male puppy so I'm Mr Popular with the kids now - as usual!!!

i went by tri talk for the first time in a while.  i see there is some talk from ron and others about changing up the mentor groups in this thread.  i'd hate to see that happen as it really has the potential to destroy the dynamic's of all this.

Yeah there has been a lot of change in the forums even since I started posting here.  A lot of the users have stuck around from the times when just about everyone here was doing sprints & olympics.  Now most of them are doing HIM's and IM's and have gotten tired of answering the same old questions, which bra, which bike, is an aero helmet worth it, etc.

Still valid questions by new folks but that's the reason I don't post in any forums really besides the mentor groups and Peloton forum.  Mentor groups are a mini-forum all in-themselves, we can tell each other to shut-up, answer the easy questions and discuss the complex ones all we want.  It's a small enough group where the new folks can ask questions, everyone reads or answers then we're usually done with that question for the year.  In tri-talk they come up every other week.

I think they're trying to figure out how to bottle the mentor forums and spread it to the rest of the site.  It's tough to have the best of both worlds, the "expert" advice of ST and the friendliness of BT.

i agree with your assessment about folks no longer posting and such.  but i think, that type of change, for good or bad, is organic.  what i understand ron to be speaking of based on his post in that thread is something that seems almost forced... that's were the rub with some folks, myself included.  this isn't my site, obviously, so they can do what they want.  but i'd hate to see one of the last remaining robust forums for the new and the not-so-new get pulled into the mainstream.

i better not see kyla chiming in on which bra to buy threads.

Yeah, it's tough when a site grows and you've always been able to be everything to everyone.  I think this is all just discussion trying to figure out how to make everyone happy if that is possible.

Oh, I disagree. I think you would very much like to see me chiming in on those, since, more often than not, my attitude is 100% no bra. It's one of the things I dislike about warmer weather -- fewer fleeces means I need to wear bras more often. Hate it.

Speaking of girly.... I had my scariest moment ever on the bike tonight.

Almost home, coming down the hill. ~50-60k/hr. Leaning right to turn into community and couldn't hear or feel it, but once i started to turn my front tire was flat. I almost went down. Closest I've come to pulling a yard sale. Kind of scared myself to be honest.

Then the part that sucked was changing the flat and having mosquitos eat away at my sexy legs.

Starting to remind myself how warm it was in CDA in 2010... it's all good!! Manage the nutrition, manage the effort. And I'm really excited that our forecast has 80 degrees every day next week! I'll take a little Portland heat -- cuz I ain't got no choice!!

Put Steve's fancy wheels that make cool noises on my bike yesterday. Test ride today and it's ready to roll! Dave has pulled through and cleared his afternoon schedule so we're hitting the road this afternoon, yay!! (Linda, dinner? I'll be in touch!) Of course I only learned when Dave would be ready to leave around 10:30pm last night -- until then I wasn't sure if we were leaving today or tomorrow, so I have a very busy morning.

In other news, my kids are tearing up the swimming pool and I am bursting at the seams with pride. They are seeing first-hand how hard work and dedication pays off (they haven't missed a morning practice since school got out) and I'm lovin' it.

LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I got to swim with Julia twice in the last two weeks, which was fun. And she ran on my trails, which was fun too! And I met her husband, which was really cool! It's been a good summer for us, all two weeks of it. Busy busy busy but fun fun fun.

Gotta get to work on making lists!!!!!!!!!!!
