Subject: RE: SBR Utopia ~~~~ Permanently OPEN!! I am not the fastest cyclist, but PT G3 laced into a DT Swiss with a disc cover for racing simply can't e beat for value and performance, IMO. I like the sound of the deep Zipps and expensive true discs. As i pass them..... |

Master 2621 Mechanicsburg, PA | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia ~~~~ Permanently OPEN!! Originally posted by axteraa James, if you are looking for a training wheel with a PT, I've got one that I will be selling as I just switched Tab over to a Power2max as well. It's an older model (pre-G3 era) either a Pro+ or SL+, I forget which - I'd have to check. Wheel is a 32 hole Mavic open pro and I have a Wheelbuilder disc cover for it as well. Thanks for the offer Arend. Sounds like a good offer, but I am just looking for the PT. I have tons of wheel sets that I can use. |

Originally posted by Fred D I saw it come, go, come back againPosted again in the thread... hope it stays ;-) Well I read the frist post. I saw nothing wrong but people can have such narrow minded thinking. As I read and was responding to the second. Poof! it was gone. I just do NOT get this place at times. I often here you guys post about crazy posts and trolling in TT, but never seem to find them. I have seen stuff in the past that a bit flamming. This just seem for whatever reason Fred that you are marked. Of course I don't see everything. I do have your last post, nothing wrong and you stated what you though was offensive to the forum. Which was not. Fred I sure hope you do not go! |

Extreme Veteran 5722 | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia ~~~~ Permanently OPEN!! James, Fred and Chris (since you all have CTs) Want to try something fun ? Have you ever tried a MAP test. You basically start at say 200w and every minute increase by 25w until failure. The average power of your last minute is your Maximum aerobic power In theory your 5' power should be about 90% of this. Your FTP 72-75% of this. I suspect it overstates FTP for many of us. Try it, it's fun. |

Just to give you guy a heads up on the power you are facing. |

Just to give you guy a heads up on the power you are facing. Erg mode is best. No need for a file if you can raise the power 25w per minute. No standing. You must hold a cadence. Dropping cadence is part of failure. It will be interesting to compare to your 20' test. I'll post my test on Strava when you're done :-) Edited by marcag 2014-12-22 8:06 AM |

Originally posted by ChrisM I am not the fastest cyclist, but PT G3 laced into a DT Swiss with a disc cover for racing simply can't e beat for value and performance, IMO. This is basically my setup as well, but I have an older Pro+ PT laced on the DT Swiss. I've used it for my last 3 IM with the disc cover. A few years ago I got a new Zipp Super 9 disk at a huge discount (about $1200 if I recall) from the owner of our local tri shop. I don't use it anymore since I want the power on the bike so it sits leaning up against the wall near my CT and I occasionally glance over at it as I do my workout thinking I should sell it to get a new PT that I can lace into my old Zip 808 that came with my Felt DA when I bought it. Either that, or switch to a crank-based pm and start using the Super 9 for racing. |

Full disclosure I do not train in erg mode. So will I need to do the warm up in erg? I mean I will do a WU I was figuring 20-25 min WU in CT mode then go into erg 5 min WU then test. How's that sound? |

How's that sound? Perfect. I did 20' w/u at about 165-170w, then started at 200w and went up 25w per minute. To be honest, only the last minute hurt. |

Master 2621 Mechanicsburg, PA | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia ~~~~ Permanently OPEN!! Originally posted by axteraa Why is dropping cadence part of the failure? Yeah and @ how many RPM's loss? I can see defections now going up in watts. I can spin ez 110+ but at 350w maybe 80 RPM's maybe I can go more to 90. So I guess I should shoot for 70 ish RPM's? |

Extreme Veteran 5722 | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia ~~~~ Permanently OPEN!! Originally posted by axteraa Why is dropping cadence part of the failure? I think that when you start dropping to 40rpm, just mashing the pedals with your body weight, you've gone over the line. |

I think that when you start dropping to 40rpm, just mashing the pedals with your body weight, you've gone over the line. This makes sense. Like climbing a 20% grade in 39/23 for me. When I get that low in RPM's something is soon stopping or I am out of the saddle. So I get it. Wednesday I'll test. Does Jim want in? |

Master 2621 Mechanicsburg, PA | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia ~~~~ Permanently OPEN!! Yes all Fred is gone from BT. It was his decision. That I respect. As far as BT goes it really need to understand that people are here on their own and with that can leave. If quality people leave BT not much use to new comers. I don't no what more to say........ |
