I totally read that you'd hacked off "a dude's head" and I was like..uh...that's not even funny.   But it was a duck's head.  So that's fine.  Carry on.

Snerk!

Ha.  That reminds me of a time I was in the woods deer hunting two years ago.  About 7:30 in the morning and snow is falling and it is beautiful and quiet.  Closest person to me is about 1/2 a mile away.  I hear two male turkeys gobbling at each other and getting closer to each other.  Anyway, the last one did kind of a "gobble, gobble gobb---aaaaaaaaack".  Sounded like someone grabbed him by the throat.  I actually laughed OUT LOUD, in the middle of the woods.  Took me about 5 minutes before I stopped laughing and regained composure.  Funniest sound ever!

Good morning Schwamm. Como estas?

Did you see we have some new people in here to take the place of Scout? OK maybe not replace him but to fill the space he left?

Morning TAN... can't believe we're back at work...

Sucks, huh?

Very much so.

OK ATX, I have to ask what you do for money. It's vital to us in TAN so we can, in certain cases, make fun of you, encourage you, back up your rantings about your coworker and/or your bosses.

I'm an insurance broker dealing with professional liability. Another words, I don't work with auto, life or health. I do handle doctor's malpractice, lawyers professional, etc. Let me tell you... insurance is just sooooo exciting. It's not too bad though. My bosses are pretty cool, co-workers... well, they're okay. I guess some of them are. Some are kind of gross. They sit around and eat enchiladas all day and sweat. Ugh. It makes me sick just thinking about it.

Well Ryan works for some sort of trucking company or something -- I just know he talks about parts and his secretary and his accomplishments all the time and doesn't really ever say exactly what he does. So basically what you do couldn't possibly be as uninteresting as what he does.

The key is to make it interesting.

Should I just quit worrying about time and run the damn thing on Sunday and let the chips fall as they may?

YES.

[you know my opinion on this, so I'll be brief]

This is your first marathon. Try to have some fun.

Yes, this is how taper goes. Yes, this means your marathon will NOT suck. Dump in some acceleration gliders during your runs if you feel like it.

Believe me, I am in the same boat!!! And this is always how taper goes, particularly the end. Just don't do anything rash. Stick to the plan!

Finally, even if you're slow as hell, then at least I can chase your lovely azz down the course and I'll have a great time.

I'm freaking OUT... I just posted this on Tri Talk:

I'm running my first mary on Sunday after months of preparation that's included a couple of halfs and other races of varying lengths. I've logged 1200+ miles of running to date, and my 'best' long run was 21 miles @ 9:02 pace on October 27th.

I've been pretty injury free, but I had to take part of the week of the 11-17th off due to a sore arch, but I still ran 14 on the 17th right around 9:05, which is my target marathon pace... but... ever SINCE...

It feels like a monkey has jumped on my back. I've slowed way down and I can't figure out why, but I'm struggling to run 9:40 in taper runs. I know you're supposed to run slower in taper than marathon pace, but its freaking me that either a) my body and/or b) my head is doing this to me. I did a T-Day run, a 10K, and did horrible for me, running just under 59:00 for a 10K. That's horrible, and I was pushing the whole way just to get that time.

I'm worried that I peaked too soon and that I'm really, really going to suck. My goal is to break 4:30 - I should do that, its the California International Marathon course which is supposed to be 'fast' - but I have this vision of really sucking and doing a 5+ hour marathon. Argghhh. Is it normal for taper to do this?

I ran 3 this morning at 9:40, I'm supposed to run 5 tomorrow, rest Wed, 5 thursday, 3 Friday and then the Marathon. Should I just quit worrying about time and run the damn thing on Sunday and let the chips fall as they may?

HTFU.
