I will try - but I am afraid it will pale. 1. I minored in Civil War History and wrote a book about the intolerances of the scorched earth campaign (no longer in print). My stepdad has written a few civil war history books :D I don't read much of the "journal" style books, but I might pick that up. I am more in the "War Stratgey" field. My book was called "Scorching Earth: The beginnings of Total War"
I think it sold about 23 copies. I bought 4 of them and my Mom bought 2. That leaves 17 other unfortunate souls that got stuck trying to read my gibberish. that might be interesting to my step dad... are they on amazon? It is out of print. You would have to find an old copy to buy it. I am quite sure that those, other than my immediate family, that purchased it, used it on a cold night to light a fire or some such event. My wife read the first chapter and acted like she was enjoying it, so I asked her a bunch of questions about what she just read and she knew none of the answers. I finally said, "You know, you don't have to read that. It isn't written for a mainstream audience". She sighed and said - "Thank God. I have never read anything so boring and over my head. When does the killing and stuff start?" |

She was pretty nerdy, but somehow found her way into the "smart and popular" group cuz she ran cross-country and track and she was on varsity in like 7th grade. I feel like she also played an instrument. But she was also super-annoying. We were in advanced art studio together in 9th grade and she got an A- on a project and started to cry. And she was ALWAYS protesting grades in our honors World Civ/World Lit class. Like a 97% wasn't good enough (which was an A+). We didn't do GPAs at my school - it was done by percentages and letter grades. I graduated with a 97% average, btw. I guess that probably adds to the list of nerdy things. That was the top 2% of my class of about 600 kids. |
