I'm right there with raidenolsen: under 6 hours would be a victory.

S: 40
B: 2:50
R: 2:20

Add in 10 for transition and I'm fine. I'm getting very excited.

Looking for sub 6:00

swim: 50 min
bike:  3:00
run:   2:00

gives me 10 min in transition.  Not worried about the heat but the wind could ruin my day.

This will be my 2nd Half Ironman, and my first ever was Savageman!  So really nothing to compare to.  Savageman was just a beast of a course!  But I'm game for setting some goals:

Swim: 32m
Bike: 2h 45m
Run: 1h 45m
T1 + T2 = 6m

Total: Just a tad over 5hrs!!

Goal - try and beat my 4:55 from 2 years ago.  But that is gonna be a stretch with lack-o-training.  Going to try and ride conservatively so I can actually run better.  (Yeah, right).

For the purposes of our 'smackdown' I would say it comes down to this.... can I get enough of a lead on the swim to compensate for your run which will be much better than mine. Interested in another 6-pack wager (this time I'm not including Dan)???

I wouldn't be so sure that Rick's run time will be much better than yours Fred.  He doesn't have a good record on that run course

Ouch low blow!

Had a great long workout today.... I would officially like to place an order for weather like I had for my workout today on race day - temp in the 70's, slightly overcast, with light wind - not enough to hinder the bike, but enough to offer a little cooling on the run. Could someone arrange that for me???

I just sent God an e-mail, but I got a quick bounce back saying he was out of the office till June 1st, vacationing on some island in a galaxy far, far, far away.  I also sent Mother Nature an e-mail ...so we'll she what she responds.  And really I should've just sent her the e-mail first since the day-to-day weather conditions are really her department.  I'll keep you posted

dck4shrt - 2009-05-25 6:20 PM As far as waves go, that stretch of the Choptank has a pretty sizeable fetch in several directions, so chances are if there is any wind, the water will be choppy.  If the wind happens to be moving in the same direction as the tide, the waves will be bigger.

I use my boat in the river occasionally and in the chesapeake bay all the time, and generally I'd say chop is worse when wind and tide are against each other.

I could give a rat's arse about the weather. Same weather for everyone in my wave regardless.

Yes, but the weather I ordered will make the whole affair more comfortable for ME, which is all that really matters!

Starting this Sunday, Accuweather's 15 day forecast will haverace day listed.  I will be checking it several times a day.

I'm racing, so that should take care of any chance of us having "perfect" weather for racedayYell.  I haven't raced a tri on a day that it either didn't rain or wasn't insanely hot since IMLP '07.  One could argue that I'm due for a nice weather for a tri, but I'd rather save it for my marathon in October

blah, my race goal just downgraded to finish, which makes me sad.  cried on a long bike today.  what a sissy.  been training on two torn hip labrum.  it appears that 2 hours of any one activity SUCKS. so, unless i can do the bike in under 2 hours, i'm screwed.  fortunately, surgery is scheduled for the day after EM, so i will get good drugs to help with soreness

awwww, man.... hooslisa, that sucks!!! You sure you won't do yourself any serious damage by doing the race? Take it easy and don't hurt yourself!!

On another note, I'll be out riding the E-man course on Saturday. I was just wondering if I might see any more of you out there.

I'm fully expecting rain on the course because that is the one thing I have not had yet at E-Man.  I've had sunny and 70 with heavy chop and winds, I've had overcast and 70's with ideal conditions all around and I've had hot and humid with temps in the 90's.  So the only realistic thing left is rain ....... which is what I'll bank on for the day.  After LP, racing in the rain is a joke.

Wink

I think another 6 pack wager on the weather is needed. My bet is high 70's, choppy waters, high winds, but sunny

Anyone know the water temp?

I don't know what it is this year but the last few its been slighly below pi$$ warm.  If I were racing this year I would NOT wear a wet suit.  Unless it was chilly in the AM.  But the last two years I came out of the water overheated really bad.
