ebshot - 2009-10-01 4:17 AM Day one of the challenge!  Who all is running today?  Everyone, good!

Not quite yet. Two more days to rest the legs. But I will be up bright and early on Saturday morning for an easy 7 miles. And thus the quest begins...

That looks yummy. Even at 8:30 in the morning.

KOM - 2009-10-01 7:53 AM I vote we go with E.V.I.L. Running Reapers-  who is making the nice team box with all the linking thingies?  Obviously not me as I don't even know what it is called!

I like it.

And I'm not making the thingy either.

I think I failed as a mentor because I couldn't make the thingy table box with magic links.

Speaking of beer... (we were, weren't we?)

After my race on Sunday, I was feeling slightly nauseous. So, walked over to the beer tent, grabbed a fake beer (Mich Ultra), copped a squat with my MS Heat peeps, and felt better immediately.

Then, hubby and I headed out for pizza, I got another fake beer (Mich Light), and overheard another table of triathletes remarking on my (and others) alcohol habits. Couldn't believe that people got a beer right after finishing the race.

What are they? From another planet?

Besides, my fake beer was no stronger than their water and sorta' tasted better. And I'm sure it was the water that was making me nauseous.

Does anybody else feel like if they see another cup of water after a race, they'll hurl?

Or is that just me?

The warm bed was really trying to keep me from my run, but I got up anyway (only a couple of snooze buttons). Very chilly - wanted gloves and hat. Turned into a nice 5.5 miles.

Beer & running just naturally go together. Geez...I was so tempted to take a beer in Lake Placid while I was still on the run. It had to wait till after I finished though - luckily found some generous partyers willing to part with one.

And yeah, after that race, the food tent had of all things...Gatorade. Like I hadn't had enough of that during the race.

I will quote two distinguished Americans -

"Beer is proof God loves us, and wants us to be happy." - Benjamin Franklin

"MMmmmm... Beeerrrr......"  Homer Simpson

The people you overheard were in doubt slow-twitchers....  I don't even mind people who smoke and do tri's - at least the're doing something...

Hey team, looks like I will be the team cheerleader for the month (if it's ok with Dee).

I have to have my gall bladder removed in the next week or two (will be scheduling by tomorrow) and I'm not able to run for 4 - 6 weeks after that.  So, I'll be happy to cheer, motivate, and tase you all for the rest of the month, but I can't set a goal (unless it's for this weekend and early next week).

This also means no fall marathons.    Pretty crappy, but at least I should be recovered by the holidays.

Sorry to hear that you can't make the marathon season this year, on the positive side though you'll be back in full shape by the holidays so you can prepare for next tri season. And we will have a cheerleader for the month

No running for me today - I get a nice off day to start the month.  Maybe I'll use my free time to tabulate a goal.  Time to sit down with a calculator and some coffee.  Fun!

A taser toting cheerleader will be fun but so sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery.  Hopefully they can do it as a same day lap procedure so your recovery will move along quickly.

The doc is optimistic that it will be a same day lap procedure.  That's a big part of why he didn't want to wait.  He said the risk of complications and open surgery goes up a lot the longer we wait with the amount of pain I am having.

Heh....sounds to me like you're making excuses so you can drink beer.  "No, No.  I *need* the beer.  Really.  This water is making me nauseous."

Of course beer makes it all better.  Except for Mich Ultra.  Yuck.  Bry drinks that.  No thanks, give me a Blue Moon or Stella any day and everyday.

No. No one needs to comment on how I'd be as a mentor. Clearly, I know I'm evil, and would sooner taser my mentees than mentor them.

Now why is everyone still here? Shouldn't you be out running or something?

(I'm running tomorrow. I'm allowed to be here today.)

Yes, you can be a taser-wielding cheerleader. (Some people wave pom-poms. We wave tasers. LOL)

If you want, you can still set a goal for the time pre-surgery. It's up to you.
