Bib #'s are out!! And wave times! I am # 1647/8:12/green cap....I think I am going to be sick! Although not too happy about being one of the latest waves...that just means some of you can hang around at the finish line to watch me crawl across it!

Biggest concern is cutoff times for me and I'm in the second to last wave, yikes!

Swim: 1 hour and 10 minutes after final wave start...............9:30am
Bike: 5 hours and 30 minutes after final wave start...............1:50pm
Run: 8 hours and 30 minutes after final wave start................4:50pm

The heat is what I am worried about starting in one of the later waves and over an hour after the first wave.  I do not do good in the heat and have even been running in the afternoon to get use to it.

I'm starting 5 minutes after my dad (his first HIM).  I'm faster in the water and on the bike but he's quite a bit quicker on the run.  Having waves so close will make it a good race to the finish and plenty of motivation for me to keep pushing! Tongue out  I want to finish before him for once!

I'm off at 7:18am.  #314.  wish they would just have us all go off at the same time that way there's more people to chose from to draft off of in the water.

I swam today in the pool for my 1x/week swim and it got me thinking.....man, i should have trained more for this thing.  ha ha ha.

Someone asked about Food and shopping...

North beach is just noth of the main downtown portion of Racine.  Shops, musemum, art gallery's, coffee shops, pubs, ect.  It's all less than a mile.

I swam Monday... its cold, hands and turkey neck were pretty cold. Everything inside the suit was fine...

re: swim conditions

locals know this best but basically expect CCCOOLLLD water and swells of about 2-3 feet because if we get those conditions you're mentally prepared if we don't you'll be golden.

when we swam last week it wasn't super cold (guessing 64-65ish) but cold enough so that when you got in the water chilled you to the bone and gave you that little nauseous feeling in the pit of your stomach.

Then when all of us were in the parking lot getting our bikes ready our bodies couldn't stop shaking for like 15 min...and we only swam for 18 min!

fun fun fun!

1834  Wave 17 (8:16) . . . now I have a reason to look forward to turning 40.
I'm not overly worried about the cut off times, but I'm much rather be finishing my run around noon rather than starting it.

Hey all, I've never done Racine or an ironman branded event before.  Is it reasonable to expect that the bike course will be well-marked (read: fatigue-induced-idiot-proof)?  I haven't been able to ride the course and, now that we're within 2 weeks, I find myself periodically panicking . . . panic of the day: bike course!!

i've never had any issues with finding my way.  every time i've done this race they've had either volunteers or cops at each intersection blocking traffic and also telling you which way to go (straight, left, or right).  pretty fool proof.

over the years it's been marked, marked, and marked some more. IMHO you willhave no problems with the course markings.

being in a late wave I'll be in the heat , but should be able to find  the bike easier.
