so, I need to start upping my bike miles to be ready for a metric in 5 weeks but tomorrow they are calling for 20mph winds; I'm not sure I'm that hard core. What to do?

THose winds are BRUTAL.  I fought them all afternoon yesterday.  Up the miles in shorter rides....do a couple of 20 milers today space them apart so you aren't wiped out from them?  Sounds more reasonable than 3 hours of being beaten to pieces.

KOM - 2010-05-08 8:45 PM Remember as Moms or even potential Moms it is our duty to insist on coffee brought to our bedside tomorrow morning!

Exactly!  All I wanted was to be able to sleep until I woke up on my own and to have coffee waiting for me.  Sigh...  One out of two is not bad!

I went out and did 35 miles in 15-25mph winds! Not too fun, but I got it done (just don't look at my average speed).

Hope everyone had a nice day.  I ran 7 this morning and then went shoe shopping.  I am back working after several years of not needing professional clothes.  I wear boots all winter but have been having lots of issues with summer shoes.  I think I found 2 pairs of wearable, comfortable but stylish shoes!!!  Will try them out next week and see.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hola Ladies...I am off to a slow start this month, but I will be getting lots of biking in over the next couple of days.  My sister is borrowing my car tonight to go home for a few days...she has her Rhodesian Ridgeback with her and can't take the train...plus she wants to be able to come back up quickly if needed (my dad is in the last stages of MSA, a rare neurological disease).

Way to go!  I wimped on running in the wind and went to the Y instead...

wgraves7582 - 2010-05-10 7:39 AM Well our first standings are in:

Men - 27.9%
Women - 22.3%

And the men hold a very small lead in post padding as well.

Still a long way to go - Keep up the great work both teams and will update standings again next Monday morning.

Ugh...  Still working on my coffee and that's all my brain can formulate right now...

I have a long trainer ride on tap for tonight.  I'd try to get outside a bit but it's still breezy here and I need to go home and get some laundry and packing done after work anyway.  My husband's grandfather passed away over the weekend and we will be traveling to Buffalo for his funeral.  I'm going to bring my running shoes but we'll have to see if I can fit it in...

MDHillSlug - 2010-05-08 8:14 AM I ran 5k today! This is my longest and fastest run since last July when my heel started hurting. :D
Great Job!  That is very exciting.

I got a cold wet bike commute to school in today (17 miles, started at 6:15am).  Later I get to bike home (around 5pm).  It is a bummer that I will be wearing damp clothes for the return trip.

Happy Monday Ladies.  I've been sick for the last few days and my empty log is depressing.  Sorry I didn't help us out much in the standings last week.  I have a lot of catching up to do.  Frighteningly, I upped my goal for hours on the bike this month, so I'd better get my flabby butt in the saddle.  I did a 40-minute run this morning and I felt like I was running in slooooooow motion.  I feel positively atrophied.  Oh well, a little at a time--there's plenty of May left.

My BF came down with a really really nasty virus this weekend.  I am hoping that my immune system is up to par and I don't come down with it.

Oh, that is a bummer...  at least you are heading HOME and you know you can warm up and pamper yourself when you get there!
