Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: Who's Your Marmadaddy Sorry for being so quiet lately, team. A dear friend of mine who has been battling breast cancer for the past couple of years recently took a turn for the worse and passed away Saturday morning. I've just been in a pretty pensive mood about it and keeping to myself. I have still been getting out and walking though. I actually went out for a "mental health walk" yesterday morning instead of diving into the jar of peanut butter (a favorite comfort food) that was calling my name. Initially I wasn't watching my time or pace, but just walking and thinking about Jer. When I finally did stop and look down at my mileage, I'd already covered just over 2.5 miles, so I went on and did a 5k distance. I'll be walk/running several times this week. Right now, I'm on pace to meet my goal for the challenge. |

Not sure what's going on, but it is making this running thing a little unpleasant. Anyway, I'm currently at 39%. I know that's dragging the ladies down, and I'm sorry. I'm working on it, but I can't increase mileage too quickly! I just have to keep up with my plan. Sorry! |

A challenge is not worth getting injured over... Increasing mileage too quickly can lead to ITB and other maladies... Don't feel pressured to hit your goals faster than you should. We must turn her into a TOAD. :P sparco - 2008-01-11 11:18 AM well...I still only read a bit here and there to get the gist of Nibbs but I have a good indicator for the most part. Besides, the Nibbs page is now all social/fun stuff because it's like 2 months ago...(oh, I know Dee and Beth will hurt me for that zipp1 - 2008-01-11 10:52 AM Funny...I'm going to be over 50% when I get done running today. Can you say that? Um...no... But I CAN say that I'm all caught up on the Nibbs thread...can YOU say that? I suppose I should post current results split by gender tonight... clearly my resigning from my job, mutilple sports events and a visit from my parents nearly kept me from learning Judi's true feelings about nibbs - sniff sniff ok, Dee - I found the wand - POOF! |

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Who's Your Marmadaddy I'm with everyone else -- the intersquad challenge is definately motivating all of us to do a little bit better. Jen -- I'm with Sparco... Don't push too hard and further injure yourself -- That would NOT be good. Keep doing what you can -- and that's all anyone will ever ask. As for me --- well -- add 4 more miles to my total for the month. that puts me with only 9.3 miles remaining of my committed 35 miles. That's a good thing, because it looks like I'm going to have to make an unexpected business trip to Europe (nothing confirmed yet -- but the ominous clouds are circling) toward the end of the month and I'm certain that will reek havoc with my training schedule! Keep it up team!

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: Who's Your Marmadaddy January Challenge Week 2 (aka, The World According to Beth) Swim, bike, run, post, post, post! The cornerstones of the January Challenge! Ok, so posting really isn’t one of the triathlon sports, and really has nothing to do with the January challenge, although early in week 2 you wouldn’t have known that based on the posting activity of the Talking Tilapia Flying Fish and the Twisted Blisters! Members of both teams took the posting challenge to heart and members of each team valiantly tried to out post each other. They even started to resort to replying to each other’s posts within their own thread (ummmm, certainly nothing yours truly would have done) – LOL!! Captains Kendra and Beth called a truce and started new threads and the focus is back on the challenge (although, the blisters are ahead in the post count hehehe!) Morning walkers on the track were wearing parkas scarfs and gloves ... ... Got to love those California winters ... The red Large LED time clock at the end of the pool glowed through the fog over the pool. Curious to know if the lifeguards could actually see all of us swimmers. |

Pro 4054 yep, | Subject: RE: Who's Your Marmadaddy Switched my run till Friday. Only really have one run this week. Work and just life is sorta catching up. That and the motivation to get out there super early is hurting too. Boo cold weather, and early mornings. I'm going to try and get up and run tomorrow morning but we shall see how that works out and what time I get to bed. If not then definitely on Friday morning also with the gym to lift some weights. Need to vent out some anger.
Going home this weekend and next week, so I should get some good miles in running and swimming too. Maybe I'll bring the bike home for some "hilly" miles. |

Run is always a good way to vent anger. Also helps the Manly Men keep ahead of the Powder Puff Girls!
