I wasn't saying it's a bad, or even that tough of a workout - to me, 20 x 50 with no more than 5 seconds rest (regardless of the interval) is not what I consider a WARM UP...  That is a Main Set...

Personally, when I write a workout, I'm a lot more traditional with a "Warm up" - I would do a 300 yard swim (at a moderate to easy pace), followed by a 100 yard kick, 100 pull, maybe throw in a couple drills if need be, then do the 20 x 50 as a main set.

However, I'm quite positive that there is a method to Yanti's madness...

It's all rainy here from TS Andrea.  It stopped for a little bit, but now it is starting up again.

Rain, rain,
Go away.
I don't want
My basement to flood.

Not quite as catchy as the kids' version, but so true.

JOGO Update...

Day 1 : 24 mile ride

Day 2: 21 mile ride - 4.8 mile run (brick)

Day 3: SKIPPED MY SWIM WORKOUT

Day 4: 23 mile ride - 6.3 mile run (brick)

Day 5: .75 mile OWS

Day 6:  22 mile ride - 4.8 mile run (brick).  This workout was done immediately after work, then I jumped in my car and went and played 2 games of softball.  It was a go, go, go kind of day from the time I woke up at 4:45, until bedtime @ 10:00 p.m.

I think I need to be removed from the JOGO list, unless 7 activities per week count... I humbly await the decision of the JOGO master.

BTW - Today is off day, and after yesterdays crazy day, I am taking it.    I'm driving 3 hours to the Oregon Coast after work today, so I don't plan to run  I NEED MY REST..

You might be overestimating Yanti, in terms of actually associating method with madness.

But yeah,  I can tell you first hand a  20 x 50 with less than 5 seconds rest as a warm-up isn't at all comparable to an 8 x 50 main set. Smile

Attention all Stalkers... and all others interested.

Check out my Bike and Run from yesterday.  If you click on them - you will see elevation data, and a map.. you can click the map, and see the elevation chart, in addition to the Google Maps chart.  (I love this new feature in the new site)

Due to the conversation about flat lands and hills, I thought I would show you all the elevation I deal with around here.  It is non stop up, down, up, down.......... oops - that's starting to sound a little dirty.  :

Ya, seriously. I live on the top of a 512' hill and no matter how  I plan it, I have to go up that beast at the end of a workout.

I know, right? It feels really weird! I was talking to Andie (former masters coach) about it last night when she asked what I have coming up.

I hear y'all about the elevation. This elevation graph was done when I did a quick ride staying in my neighborhood...

The funny part is that you're the one who started all that with the 1% on a treadmill to simulate outdoor running!

Oooo!  Yes, I think that it's safe to say that none of us want your basement to flood.

Here in Raleigh we have had a lot of rain but, interestingly, no wind.  By no wind I mean that 5-10 mph is normal and 10-15 mph is fairly common in the spring/fall but we have been 0-5 mph today.

I think that the last bands are coming through here now and I hope that it will not be torrential when it's time to leave for the day.

Yup, it's similar weather here, too.  Rained most of yesterday and all day today, alternating between heavy and average.  Flood watch is on until tomorrow morning.  Trail running could get a bit messy this weekend!  Kind of interesting how this weather event affected a fair amount of manatees: Chris and Ann Marie first, then Janyne, now Jen, Judi and myself as it works its way up the coast.

You might be overestimating Yanti, in terms of actually associating method with madness.

But yeah,  I can tell you first hand a  20 x 50 with less than 5 seconds rest as a warm-up isn't at all comparable to an 8 x 50 main set. Smile

I thought the intervals were on 1:00??

Specifically, the WU was: 20x50 @1:00 (or interval = moderate effort but only ~:05R)
