Busy week for me...Spring break turned out not to be a break at all, LOL. Luckily I have one more week!

Over 220 miles on the bike and 11000 feet climbing, plus a little swim and run. We also redid our front yard, my family moved 8 tons of rock. I'm going to be sore tomorrow!

Nice!!!  I love the feeling after a monster week on the bike.

Feel like I shorted a couple swim workouts, but still had just over 17,000 yds for the week. Masters tonight was 4,500. Late in the swim, thought my lats and various side muscles were going to split.

I can honestly say, I would be incapable of swimming that yardage.  Hopefully I'll get to it at some point this year.

I'm trying to get up earlier in the morning so I can hit the new gym pool and up that yardage.  Walked in this morning, and the girl behind the counter asked if I was a there to swim - told me the pool was 70.  I turned around and left.  Ironically, I desperately wanted out of my last gym because the pool was up to 88 last summer...

That sucks!  That would put me in a foul mood for the rest of the day.  GRR.  I suffered in the pool for you this morning Neil - 40 x 50 on :45.  First time I've ever attempted that set on 45 rather than 50.

After a couple of weeks of milder weather, today we got a rude reminder that winter isn't over.  Windchill is back down in the -20s.

Thanks Rusty - very good explanation.

Question for everyone.  Do you do anything special to store your latex tubes?  They won't fit back in the box all the way after being inflated, so I just leave them partically sitting in the original box.  It dawned on me the other day that this may cause them to potentially dry out a bit.  Hopefully I'm wrong on this, but wanted to confirm and see what others do.

I don't know the right answer for this but it's a good reminder for me to go check on mine to see if they have survived their storage.  I pretty much leave them in the box and once they are used and taken out, they probably sit in a bag or in a pile of something....

Race Report is up. 11 minute PR, so I am happy. A long way to go before I am in the league of many here, but I am still progressing nicely, so how can I be unhappy.

Ugh! Our pool often has problems with the heater (it;s outdoor) or being too hot in summer. Hopefully it's fixed soon!

We store ours in a ziplock bag. I keep them inside our house because our garage gets to 110 degrees in the summer, and that can't be good for them!

Awesome swim week Ben - I miss you logging on BT - looking at your monster volume was always "motivational." I am currently logging about 13k+ per week in the pool, but that should go up to around 17k just as soon as I am able to get a 4th swim in open water.

Tongue out

Our OWS group actually started at the beginning of the month, but the water temps were a whopping 48 degrees. They had 7 lunatics in the water. I was NOT one of them. This past weekend they had 17 folks - water temps were 51 degrees. We have it on the schedule for this weekend, but I am not optimistic that I will be able to screw up the courage. I do have a hood, booties and gloves, so we will see. By the time it warms up to "comfortable" wetsuit temps (60s) there are usually 50~80 folks, so it is really nice - a well-protected cove, 3~4 kayak lookouts, and race buoy's set up on a measured 1.2 mile bendy loop, so lots of good sighting practice. And 10+ miles of great running trails that start right at the beach where we swim and 100s of miles of scenic backroad riding right out of the park. Come on, springtime!

You're doing ~4,000 each time? I go 5. A trio *about* 3,000 and a pair of 4,000ish. Sometimes I might miss a 3k or shorten a 4k. Think I'll be doing the non-masters 4k in another pool. The one is always getting too warm and I start burning up even going easy. Swimming is tough enough as it is. The other one is much better, so can get the yardage in. Strange, but that warm pool is fine first thing in the morning for the 3k's.

Ha ha! Yes, even around here those early-season open water swimmers really can be a little "holier than thou." Although I suppose where you live they were probably actually wearing skates?

Hey All!

Been on spring break last week, great having a week off.  Logged a ton of bike miles nice rides but very windy.  On some rides I would push to keep 17 -20 mph than coming back it be up to 27-30 it was fun.

Also have lost 8 pounds since starting dieting at the end of Feb. Good results, life is good!
