Well today was an unexpected off day. My step dad was rushed to hospital by ambulance and I drove my mom to the hospital. When I arrive at their house the paramedics were there and he was incoherent with a bp of 185 over 158 and  a hr below 50. He is stable but they are going to continue to run tests. Please keep him in your prayers.

Of course I've been thinking of him and your Mom since yesterday afternoon.  Hoping they find the cause and can work towards getting him healthy.

Emma...nice job today. Congrats on attaining your goal!

I had a nice ride this morning, getting my longest bike distance in to date...47 miles. Needless to say, I paced it very well and have a good idea of how I want to attack Galveston. A couple more long rides and I should be back on top of my bike "game" soon.

At this time they are still running tests. So far things look good, but we are still waiting for some results. Hope to have a better idea by Monday. He is stable and feeling better.

I got up this morning and ran my race route for the 11th. F-L-A-T. My run tracker got bumped so I didn't get an actual time for it but I am thinking high 30s (37-39 minutes) goal is under 43 which is my fastest (only) time for a 5k race. So I will be happy with that.

Oceanside went much better than I expected. I think that taking it easy with the last round of bronchitis made sure that I was rested come race day. I bested my time from last year by over 10 minutes and really enjoyed most of the day and didn't get worked up about my pacing. It's amazing what no pressure will do for a race.

Justin, glad to hear that things are going a little better with your step dad.

Great job Emma!  Congratulations.  I remember when we started you were thinking 3 miles as a stretch.  Look how far you've come in just a few months.  Oh, and the Cooper River Bridge Run is a great 10k.

I'm jealous... I've got a 5k coming up that's going to be on the Clemson campus.  There is no such thing as flat when it comes to our campus.  Lots and lots of hills some that are really steep (so if anyone's ever in the area and wants to do some hill training Clemson campus is the place for you).  I've run the course before when I did the 5k freshmen year it's tough!!  Hoping to run it a couple times before the 5k in the next couple weeks.

You'll do great on your race and I think you can definitely reach your goal!

Managed to get 9 miles done with no knee blow up yesterday.  Funny story.  At mile 8 an older gent pulls up next to me and rolls his window down.  I wait for the usual "GET OFF the road and onto the sidewalk" rant, but instead he shouts:  LIFT your knees!!!!.  Gotta admit, I was shuffling along at that point, but I did lift my knees for the last mile.

Thanks!!  It was such a great experience.  I can't wait to do it again next year and crush my time from this year Laughing  I'm still on such a high from it... definite proof I can do anything I put my mind to and hard work does pay off.

Nice job on the run.  Glad the knee didn't bother you.  That story reminds me of one my parents friends Tom.  He's a really good runner (finished the 10k yesterday in 49 min) and does several races a year.  He said at one race he started cramping up on a hill and this old man (70ish years old) comes up behind him pats him on the back and says "you can do this son!" and then just keeps on running.  He said that was all the motivation he needed to start running faster because there was no way an old man was gonna beat him.
