One item that we have been discussing has been clarified in the athelete guide.  The bike will have an additional cutoff point.  It was previously listed as "2nd lap of bike course must be completed".  Now it's a cutoff at the ohio match road turn around.

1:30 p.m. 1st Lap of Bike Course Must be Completed

4:00 p.m. Bike cutoff at the turnaround at Ohio Match Rd.

5:30 p.m. Bike Course Closes

There's also an additional cutoff on Bennett Bay Hill Turn Around on the run at 10:30pm. I've never really paid much attention to times but for anyone expecting to finish between 10pm and 11:59:59 we should be keeping those secondary cut-offs in mind....

I was hoping this email was race numbers.  Will have to read that guide thoroughly.

On the bike course, there are four points to really pay attention, be courteous and smart.

1. The mount line through the first turn on to Lakeside.  This area is narrow and many people will not be paying attention while clipping in or going through fast through the turn.  This turn should be taken with caution on the second loop, as well, as you will have speed heading into it.

That reminds me of a video of the bike mount line I saw a few months ago.  It definitely drove home the point that it's worth walking or running up the side a ways before mounting the bike, as opposed to stopping in the middle of the road just past the line and causing a log jam.  I know people are in a hurry about want to get going, but doing a running jump mount will save people maybe five seconds out of 10+ hours, but could very well end in disaster for them or another rider.  I think this link to that video will work - https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=406018017283

Last long ride is DONE!!  My final long brick was a 3000/110/5.  Tomorrow is a cruise on the mountain bike for 60 minutes followed by a 20 mile run.  Then it's taper bliss.  I'm totally off on Sunday.  Woot!!!!!!

Not quite sure when my taper starts--hopefully the coach tells me something on Sunday! BUT, just had a killer bike---last week the bike put me in a dark place, today I did just shy of 70 miles (so, I guess tapering a bit, haha) and just nailed it with some tough hills, hammering hard and I am done now and NOT TIRED AT ALL...which is good cause I have a 20 mile run tomorrow morning, but oh such a better place to be than after my bike last week!

Haven't been on for awhile. Reading thru the last few pages of posts makes me wish I had oh, 10 or 20 more weeks to get ready. I can't seem to find anything about a pre race swim. I have heard there is an informal swim on Friday morning, but I was hoping someone here could help.

CdA Lake is open to regular swims as it is, so unlike IMTX and IMAZ, where swimming is only allowed for actual events, and due to Gatorade not longer being a sponsor and holding the pre-race swims, you can pretty much swim whenever you want--no need for an official swim.

What say you BT CdA peeps--set up some practice swim meet ups on Thurs and Friday?

Don't know of any races--but since I spectate the last two years while in training mode, I also did some running out there, and if you hit the Centennial on the west side of town near Post Falls--OMG--some of the most beautiful running ever.  So if you don't find a race, but she'd like a gorgeous run, it's amazing there--in fact, just on that same trail in CdA that we'll be on is amazing too.

I'm up for 8AM, I think there is a Moose Statue just there near the Lake that makes for a nice meeting spot. Locals/vets can help me remember if it is actually a moose.

Mine is 14, 11, 5 hours.  It's sad when 14 hours seems like a walk in the park.  What's interesting is the extra speed work on the bike and run as I taper.

Indeed it's almost 87 here in PDX right now and I thought "I'll do my 90 minute hilly run in the sun...." OMG - we Pacific NW'ers really need some warm temps to train in. I just about died between the wind and the heat. Crazy thing is my legs felt great! Thank goodness for free ice water at Starbuck's

Yeah after my brick today, I want to change my vote to "overcast, please".

Today's weather is almost exactly what we had at CdA last year.

Pretty stoked. Did my first OW swim of the year down in the bay, and other than the fingernail nick in the angle turning into a massive tear, I did about 4000 yards in an hour flat. Really happy with that. Not sure what I'm going to do about the tear, either try to repair it, or just cut the ankles short.

Well if you're the fastest age group male in the swim, you'll win a new Tyr wetsuit and some spending money

I'd probably try to repair it first, then cut it as a last resort.
