Way to come in under your goal!!

Emmanem - 2010-03-28 4:43 PM Thanks!!  It was such a great experience.  I can't wait to do it again next year and crush my time from this year Laughing  I'm still on such a high from it... definite proof I can do anything I put my mind to and hard work does pay off.

kcarroll - 2010-03-28 5:33 PM
Emmanem - 2010-03-27 5:08 PM Back from my 10k.  Had a great time and reached my goal of running it in under 1:20!

Great job Emma!  Congratulations.  I remember when we started you were thinking 3 miles as a stretch.  Look how far you've come in just a few months.  Oh, and the Cooper River Bridge Run is a great 10k.

Thanks everyone.

Kelli I totally agree.  They either need to somehow make people seed themselves more realistically, make the race wider in the beginning or just cap it earlier (or all of the above).  The one good thing about NYRR races is that they're so close to home.  You can literally role out of bed and go to the start line..

If anyone is interested my race report.

KelliD - 2010-03-29 10:42 AM Awesome race Stan!!

The crowding at NYRR races has gotten totally ridiculous!  IMHO, the cap needs to be even lower than what it currently is.  I spent the first 2 miles of the race getting soo frustrated at all the darting & weaving, having to constantly check up bc I couldn't get around people and swearing for the hundredth time this was the last NYRR I was ever doing.  In hindsight though, the crowding in the beginning was sort of a silver lining and kept me in check....otherwise I think I would have taken off too fast.  Still not in a hurry for another race in CP though.

trying1 - 2010-03-28 9:20 PM I had the 4 mile version of Kelli's race today, I did ok but didn't reach my goal..  Had a goal of 30min (7:30/mile) but finish 31min on the dot (7:45/mile).  I basically had to have everything work perfectly to reach my goal and unfortunately the hills and crowd/congestion kicked my a$$.

KelliD - 2010-03-29 10:44 AM Glad to hear you're healing up & feeling better!!

Rather than bubble wrap, I think we're going to need to put you in a bubble if you keep this up :)

Nicole83 - 2010-03-29 10:16 AM Good Morning everyone!

I haven't had a chance to read thru all the posts yet, but I skimmed and have two important things to say first.

#1- GREAT job on your races this weekend everyone!  You should all be VERY proud! :)

#2- Laughing still freaking HURTS, but not as bad as it did last week.  I'm glad I missed all the cankles talk then.  Hehe.  And seriously, does Eric have cankles?  Now I'm curious.  I know he's all of 100 lbs of beastly polka dot masculinity and all, I'm not sure he has enough extra to have cankles? :)

So anyway, hi. :)  I'm back to the land of the living though not quite yet back to work.  I tried to update from the hospital and all but they had me on so many pain killers I only partially remember my stay there.

The short version is that I had a cyst on one of my internal girly parts that ruptured and was hemmoraging internally.  To make matters worse, that irritated my appendix to the point that it was becomming a problem.  After 24 hours of monitioring and probing (and let me just tell you, and ultrasound is NOT the warm fuzzy verson that you think of when you think of babies when they're trying to get a good look at your appendix and internal girly bits), they decided they needed to remove the appendix and cautorize (sp?) the bleeding.

Once they got in there (thru my belly button no less!) the bleeding was worse than they thought.  The procedure went okay in the end, but I've lost a lot of blood.

No transfusion needed, thank god, but my red count is low and probably will be for at least a month.  So I have this lovely semi-constant light headed thing going on.  Hope that goes away sooner rather than later.

I'm feeling better today.  They said at least a week before I return to work, but i'm optomisitc to go in for at least a few hours tomorrow.  My assistant is going out of town for two weeks beginning on Friday so it would be really great if we were at least somewhat on the same page before she leaves.

I'm bruising nicely, which is weird since it's my belly button, but the worst is definately behind me.

So anyway, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.  I missed you guys. :)

That or we could just contact Lady Gaga's stylist and see if Nicole could borrow her outfit at least until she heals Laughing

KelliD - 2010-03-28 6:08 PM Killed it in the 15k today!!  My goal was 1:20 (8:35 pace), which I thought was kind of a reach and possibly unrealistic.  Finished in 1:17:27 (8:19 pace).  I'm thrilled

Congrats to all the racers, you guys killed it!!

Nicole, glad you're on the mend. Hopefully you are done with the injury bug...

Man, this rain is killing me up here in the North East. 5 weeks until my 1/2 mary and I missed my long run yesterday. It's like monsoon season today and I don't have access to a treadmill....Frown

I may have to HTFU tomorrow to get a run in.

Congrats to all the racers... Emma, Jessica, Kelli, & Stan you all did great. Way to kick off the season with some great PR (and very close PR) performances!

Justin P. - glad to read your step dad is doing better.

Nicole - glad to read you too are doing better!  I like the bubble dress thingy...kinda sexy!

KimC - great run - woot woot for no knee problems "lift them knees" HA funny!

Nik & Tif - great milage on the ride!  Y'all will be golden at Lonestar.

Dan - great run, your race on the 11th looks like you will have it dialed in! Weee Doggy!

We had a lil' Tri Season kick off party at mi casa Saturday... KK, Ken, Justin (& his wife), Eric, Betsy, Fattyfatfat (& his wife), and several others (not on BT) dropped by and we enjoyed some good company, good drink, and tastey eats.   I wish we could have had all the out of towners in as well...

I just wanna say Many Thanks to all that came out! It was a great day!

I vote for this   As long as it's above 40 degrees I honestly don't mind running in the rain at all (below 40 degrees....enter cranky, whiny Kelli).  Get out there and get it in

Dang, girl, you're an insurance adjuster's nightmare.  Glad to hear you're okay.  Just think, soon you'll have worked through every bone, muscle and organ in your entire body, and everything will be like new!

Hope you heal up quickly.  Pain while laughing is just not acceptable.

Good morning all.  I actually managed to get out of bed today and crawled into work.  Luckily, my office is less than a mile from my house, so I made it without killing anyone on the road.

It's amazing what a week away from work will do to you.  My brain feels like cobwebs.  LOL

Anyway, just wanted to say hey, see how everyon'es Tuesday is going?  The weather here today is beyond perfection, it makes me crazy that I can't go out and play in it.

So we broke down and manipulated the budget to go ahead and get aerobars. Was kind of a pain to have to have a late evening of traveling, but yesterday was the only day it was remotely do-able, and I figure we are already pushing the learning curve and needed to take care of it ASAP.

Anyway, looking forward to a short week at work. Planning on hitting up 288 on Friday for the first OWS of the season and to put the wetsuit to use! Also have a noob that will be experiencing her first OWS in preparation for Lone Star. Anyone else have a Friday swim @ 288 on the agenda?

Also, we would like to get a long ride and a run in on Saturday...looking to ride the Galveston course if anyone else plans on being out there. I'm in need of a change of training scenery! Times on the OWS and the ride are completely negotiable...would just like to have more training camraderie as well. Smile

Yay for aerobars!  Be careful on your first time out with them, a little wiggle is a lot different on the bars than without them.

Oh, and PS, I wish I lived in TX.  I'm missing out on so much fun, it makes me sad.

I would love to join y'all... but Galveston is a haul and I am working (I know, shock, look of amazement) Friday night 6-10p & Sat night 10p-2a 'Greek Easter' ceremony at a Greek church near downtown.  Easy money...    The plan is to get some good biking in Sat morning, but can't make it all the way south.

I am planning a swim at 288 Saturday April 10th... hit that, then down to Kemah for the Olympic bike check & meeting (not happy about that!)  May be hitting Galveston the weekend of the 17th... start taper off with a 56miler on the bike.
