The nervous energy that has been noticeably absent all week for my upcoming race on Saturday has hit me full force this morning. I'm tired and antsy all at the same time. Very weird feeling. Do you like carrying that energy into a race, or does it not help you? It usually lasts up to about 30 minutes before the race starts, then it all goes away and my game face goes on. I've always been like this. Before football or basketball games, or before track meets. I would get this overwhelming nervous energy, sometimes so strong I felt like I wanted to puke (never did) and then about 20-30 minutes before the start, it would all get channeled into focused energy and would all go away. I've got an essay somewhere on the site that talks about visualization and how I use it to my advantage. I think that has a lot to do with how I handle the nerves. Kind of like a switch that triggers in my head that says "Alright, enough with that. Time to get down to business." |
