Yawn...high school sucked.  Moving on.

ETA: And I don't think anyone in the real world really cares about how anyone did in high school.  The only good thing I got for a good gpa coming out of high school was a small academic scholarship.

I started out as a Math and Physics double major for a year, and realized that it was full of nerds so transferred to the slightly less nerdy civil engineering....

At least you can see what we build.

Aikidoman - 2008-09-17 12:52 PM I think smart girls are hawt. It's nice to talk to an intelectual equal, rather than all the jibberish you hear out of a lot of mouths...

That would put you in the minority group of the male population.  And don't get me started on when a girl/woman is actually an intellectual superior to the men around her.  No, I'm not bitter, not bitter at all.  Why do you ask?

Arg, I feel you. Even the ones that say they WANT a smart girl still really just want a dumb, quiet, pretty, wide-eyed thing to sit there and look like arm-candy. Um, HELLO! We are also hawt, AND aren't retarded! God forbid a man's intellect be CHALLENGED!! Gasp!!!

Negative.  Not all of the "ones" do.  I get embarrassed being with someone that is dumb and says stupid crap.  You can tell a lot about someone based on the company they keep, so I don't want some dumb bimbo on my arm...

I have never compromised my grades, but I will admit to holding back on the smartness a little so boys don't think I'm a "smarty-pants". No one likes that. I don't readily offer any of this information up to guys I'm dating or trying to date. If it comes up in convo, then great. Last guy I dated, we were talking about grad school and he said something about earning "distinction" on his grad school comprehensive exam - I also earned the same on my comp exam, so I said "oh, cool, me too!" And he gave me a high-five and we revelled in our nerdiness together But usually I keep my mouth shut until they ask. The wit, however, I do not hold back much on (though I keep it clean, unlike here :-P). It's a good way to snag their interest at first Guys like a witty girl, it seems.

I've got to agree with Aikido. To make your statement correct it'd have to read like this:

Smart, trustworthy, stable, athletic, able to hold up her end of the conversation, attractive, tall.  I mean, obviously in every relationship there is going to need to be some variety of attraction, but I think you've got it wrong.

I'm sort of thinking, that along with higher than average incomes, triathletes probably have higher than average intelect...

Excluding those in TAN, of course...

OK, how bad am I.

Got up early to get a swim in, even got out of bed, got dressed, drank something, then realized I could still get an hour more sleep and went back to bed.

I suck.

Maybe. Maybe not. Former-triathlete-ex-boyfriend was not the regular "smarty-pants" guy that I usually date. Didn't make a difference to me, though.

Yeah, I don't know if I would say that uniformly about triathletes.

Of course not.  The statistical average.

Seems to me that most of people in TAN seem smarter than your regular joe.  Maybe TAN draws them, or maybe triathlon.

But it doesn't matter to me if it's not the case and triathletes are no smarter than the rest of society on average...
