I really doubted I'd be able to do the required (at least 36) on the last set, but I got to 39. This program is like magic! Anyone want to do a 100 pull-up challenge? -- Seems to me one could use the same progression. I've been wanting to get to 20, but with this program, why not 100? Edited by jashac 2008-12-03 6:56 PM |

Plus, I need the extra days rest since I'm still a little sore from the other day! I shall return tomorrow!! |

I didn't finish it but simplefit isn't that kind of program. I did revamp my routine to focus on hundredpushups and just a part of simplefit for now. I'll tackle the full simplefit next offseason. |

Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: 100 pushups in 6 weeks Congratulations Happychick! 50 is way good! Week 4 day three for me. 29, 33, 29, 29, 41. Breaking a pretty good sweat with these now and the last couple of sets are quite tough. Guess I need to go look at the website and see when the exhaustion test is scheduled. I printed the weeks, but the test is not on them. Have a great weekend everyone. |

I've been unofficially doing this challenge. I'm on week 5 but haven't been keeping up with the thread. Since starting this my pullup bar has been neglected and I *heart* pulllups. I was gonna go searching for a similar program for pullups to get to at least 25. If anyone finds a good program or wants to start a challenge I'm game |

I'd love to do a pull up challenge and found one but desperately need to get to my 100 push ups first. The website I found is http://www.crossfiteastbay.com/2008/10/crossfit-east-bay-50-consecuti.html It is basically 50 pull ups in 100 days and focuses on chest to bar but it could totally be modified to 25 in 50 days and bringing chin above bar! I "just" did 40 pushups..... Oh well.... Then it's 100 pushups in 8 weeks or longer.... As long as I end up with 100 pushups.... Still, I am a little sad.... Oh well... Have a GREAT WEEKEND everybody! |

Master 1632 Almost Canada, WA | Subject: RE: 100 pushups in 6 weeks Hey, where is everyone?! I managed to finally start week 6 today but will need to repeat day 1 since I just could not get to 40 on my last set. 25/30/20/15/28 military then had to drop to my knees to get to 40 Still, I did 118 regular push ups and will try again on Wednesday. Slow and steady wins the race, right?! |

Champion 10742 Ames, IA | Subject: RE: 100 pushups in 6 weeks I found a different pull-up program that seems a little more similar to the pushup program. I found it here. It's a density type workout, which has you doing multiple sets and reps, and is why I think the pushup program is so effective. This only has you going up to 20 reps, but I think it could be easily modified to go higher

I'm still not able to get to the minimum 40 so I will stick it out and keep pushing (ha,ha,ha) along until I actually exceed it! Welcome Danny! |

Veteran 303 | Subject: RE: 100 pushups in 6 weeks Yeah, I have not done pushups in awhile due to a vacation and then being sick. Hopefully I'll be able to get Day 1 of Week 5 in today, I did my exhaustion test a few days ago and it went ok. Just hope I haven't lost too much fitness by sitting around on my arse!! |

Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: 100 pushups in 6 weeks Week 5 Day 3: 20,20,24,24,20,20,22,45. on 45 seconds. I didn't notice that in addition to going to more sets the rest time got shorter this week. Today's the first day I did them on the recommended 45 second interval. Makes it a bit tougher. I didn't make it to the goal of 50 on the last set. Oh well, Still I'm happy to get to 45. ---- Time for a test this weekend. This will be my first. Should be interesting. I just repeated week 1 of the pushup challenge doing pull ups, and although I'm stronger and notice more mass in my lats, I'm really not sure I'm ready for week 2. The marine pull up routine seems much more reasonable given the rate at which I'm advancing with the pull ups. It seems like to me that there are not enough rest days, and that two weeks is too long to go without adding challenge. But maybe Lats grow slower? ?? What do you guys think about pull ups every day, and two weeks between advancing? Edited by jashac 2008-12-12 3:37 PM |

Master 1632 Almost Canada, WA | Subject: RE: 100 pushups in 6 weeks Week 6 Day 1....yet again! 25/30/20/15/42 = 132 Yea, I finally got to 40 on my last set. However, it was slow going so i've decided to repeat it....yes, again! I want to make sure I'm strong enough to actually move on to the final test. We need to rename this thread as it's turned into both a push up and pull up challenge. I've been working on assisted pull ups so that I can try it ~ I just have to get to where I can do some on my own! |
