The categories were odd- they had me as an Athena XL4 which wasn't even a category in registration!

Meah, I'll just have to pay better attention the next time I register.

My finishing places are 69 (everyone included) or 54 (teams,MTN,elites out)
I think the choice is clear what number to go with. (sixty nine dude!)

I wasnt close to top 3 in my age group (1:10 and under) but there was 60 seconds containing the 4th-8th group. That is a learning I took from this race. Just because no one is in front of you doesnt mean no one is in front of you.

I got 530 overall and 15/17 in my age group by hfp's list.

Removing relays only, keeping elites, mountain bikes, athenas, and clydesdales changes it to 517 of 570 overall and still 15 of 17 in F40-44.

Too cool, I made my personal goals (finishing with a smile, no injury, not falling over on the bike, and not walking during the run, not finishing last overall, finishing under 2hr) and even rode up all but the first hill (didn't even try, was afraid I'd fall over when I ran out of gears clipped in).

I've got easy things to improve next few races:  T1, T2, better hill work (well, maybe not so easy...) and I can only run faster :-)

just so those of you that have questioned know.

Elites, mountain bikes, athena/clydes div all count towards overall, and are simply a means for people to compare results with those of similar ability.

just as an example, the elite wave/results go into the overall just like anyone else, and are a seperate age group (i believe open and masters, one up to 40 or 50, the other over).
they ask on the entry form if you expect to place top 10 or so to only enter if that is the case, but its left to you. this is so the people of this speed can race together and compare results, just like looking through your age group, or at those that only have a mountain bike, etc.

as for the timing (are their splits yet?), that is not done through HFP, but rather speedy feet timing this year.

newbz - these categories should count toward overall categories but the only explaination for me moving up another 8 spots in the way they calcualted overall standins is the 8 elite spots ahead of me. (there are also 2 teams and i moved up a total of 10 spots)

they just have a screwy system

that is why i am just putting myself at 30th instead of 22nd overall.  I am counting elites and not teams (no other categories were removed ahead of me)

Arrrgh, I'm going crazy waiting for the split times. I've taken a guess at what my split times were based on my bike time but I want to see the official results. By my math I ran a 25:23 5k, which is one of my goals this year (sub 25:30). I hope they post them soon.

i have no idea why the timing company would do that, this is an elite age group and not a pro field, and should be in the overall results.

i really wish HFP had stuck with the timing guy from last year but i am pretty sure he moved away or is no longer working.

I am somewhat perplexed with the way things are listed. I am listed as finishing 86th. I was really happy to do so well in my first ever tri, especially after having a terrible swim. In the age group section I am listed as finishing 70th.  What is going on?  I am used to running results which are much easier to understand.  Also, I didn't realize it at the time, but I believe I talked to both David and Brue after the race.  I was the nerd in the pearl izumi outfit with the girlfriend wearing the moon boot.  You guys were both really wonderful to talk to, and being new to triathlon, it is cool to see such a positive support system in the tri community.  My mother even commented how neat it was to see people cheering on other athletes even after they finished.

the reason you are listed higher on one is that the overall results simply show each finisher and their time, relays inculded, the age group results split them out.

Ah yes.. the moon boot girl's guy.  It was nice to talk to ya.  That was us.  You also saw me at the quarter mile to go point cheering people on.

The results numbers we speculate are because in the overall listing they left in the teams which should not count in overalls.  In the separated results the teams were not counted - but neither were "elites" and possibly other categories were left out - this is not normal.

Use the overall page and subtract the teams to find your actual finishing place.

Maybe once the do the splits it will be correct.

Congratulations.

so not only do they have male/female/elite/master/mtn bike/athena/clydes/teams/age group but also gender indeterminate? I will sign up for that at my next Ironman. How many slots do they get for Kona?

HAHAHAHA. That's funny.

Nice race BJ, it was nice to meet you. Are you psyched for your next one?

newbz, do you have a contact at HFP? It's Tuesday morning and still no split times. What the H is going on?

I just checked the HFP site for splits again. The section that was supposed to list them is gone. No note, nothing on the site that I could find explaining why/where they are. WTF?

OK, I know some of you have been to Speedy-Feet's site, but has anyone else done this?  If you click on "Results" on the top menu, click on "Overall Results" for our tri it actually shows some of the splits.  It's really weird.  They've got every single one of my numbers listed, but on Brue's, for example, they've just got his total, run time and pace/mile for the run.

On HFP's site, they've got 587 overall and I'm 500.  On this page, they've got 585 listed and I'm 498.

CLEARLY they've got some kinks.

Thanks Lora. My split is not there either, but the good news is that they fixed my age, and it appears that I won my AG.... as a Female contestant.

here is what i know so far.

speed feet has fewer total because they are sorting out the issues/people that should not have finished as they go. one woman got a ride back but still finished the race with her chip on she is one of the two pulled.

i have no idea what is up with them taking so long, but this timing company needs to get on it.
