D001 - 2009-05-12 11:18 AM CAT! Did you see the new "Giro d Italia 2009" forum? They're offering you a warm-up forum to get ready for the TdF!

I did see it... but that would mean I have to watch more so Im up to date!!!

Im getting highlights down here but not getting to watch every day!

I haven't seen it here - at all! I don't know if Versus is carrying it, even.

They're not.  I watched some of it online but my crappy home computer gets angry with me when I do that.

I wonder why Versus isn't carrying it. They've added some other cycling events this year.

Um. Welcome to grad school?

It's been too long for him to still act like this.  He should know me better.  He's been my adviser since 2004.  It's just making me really grumpy.
I was going to comment, but I'm jaded and cynical. So I won't.

You can.  It's ok.

Can I speculate????

1) The coverage isnt great of the Giro anyway - its prone to pour production values and lots of cut outs which can frustrate viewers (especially those who are accustomed to the slick production around the TDF)

2) I suspect that despite this the Giro organisers probably still want a premium price for the coverage which may be more than a small cable channel is prepared to part with as they probably arent convinced they can make the cash back

3) Other cycling events are probably easier to sell/make money off for the network: Tour of California for example

4) The coverage they do get isnt clean and they would not want to go straight to air with it. So there would be additional costs like hiring talent and editors to get the coverage up

Or...

4) They were slow off the mark and dont have someone in the program/content area who *gets* cycling

Artemis - 2009-05-11 8:34 AM Morning everyone!  It's raining again here.

Morning, NIBBS!  It's overcast yet again here.  A cool day to train in before the heatwave starts in, uhhhh, somewhere in August for, I think, an hour.

Did you move over here and not told me Phil? It sure seems like the weather we have here ...

Screw the "set", I'll "spike".  (I used to play middle front and loved quick sets, btw).

Morning, Nibbs!

Long time, no see.

I went to the farmer's market this morning. Yum! Of course, I met this crazy guy there that wanted to convince me that the DaVinci code was close, but not quite right, to the truth about Jesus's bloodlines and the holy grail...unfortunately, he had some really great natural sorbet in some fun flavors, so I talked to him so I could get free samples. Pineapple basil sorbet...delish.

I met that guy at Elwood Thompson - Holy Grail sorbet or something?  He's a bit crazy, but does have great sorbet.
