Thanks Nicole!  Will do.  Appears to be quadriceps tendonitis.  I'll confirm with the doc this afternoon. 

Shooting to get back to training around March 8th...

Bah!  Liam has an ear infection and he's wheezing.  No school for him today.  So, no 15k for me.  I am trying to convince myself to get on the trainer for an hour.  Yet here I sit.  Feeling like a nap instead.

I'm too much of a wimp to run when it gets too cold out, although I would like to do a race like this at some point. akrenik - 2010-02-06 9:12 PM I did it!  Put a ziplock bag around my watch and my husband's poncho on and headed out.  Pretty darn fun!  By the time I had gone a mile the rain stopped and a HUGE rainbow decorated the sky.  So great! 

Great job getting out there! It really is worth it!

KOM - 2010-02-06 4:02 PM So today was a major HTFU workout for me.  I got in just over 12 miles in the 20 degree windy cold.  HAving some issues with spasm in my right glut.  It was wicked tight on Thursday after spin class.  I think we did a lot of glut stuff with the trainer on Tue and Thurs this week too.  It bothered me the entire run today.  Hoping to get it foam rolled or otherwise fixed this week.  I hate having issues.  I just like to go and not worry about things.....

way to dig deep....but take it easy don't want it to get worse.

I have a Liam too! Mine is 7. Hope all was good and you got your run in....but it is NOT sunny here! Wish it was, I really do not like WI winters!

Sadly, I've already dropped out of the challenge.  I'm pretty sure I have quadricep tendonitis (left leg).  Going to see friend/neighbor/physician tonight (he specialized in Sports Medicine) to confirm.  I'm thinking I'll be out about 4-6 weeks.

I hear you on the snow!  I am beginning to understand why Spring Break is such a big deal in the Midwest.  It's time to go somewhere warm!

He never seemed sick!  He's headed to school tomorrow for sure.  We did have a nice day together.  We went to lunch and shopping.  Not a bad way to spend the day.

I was just getting ready to make a comment about how I must run too many challenges.

Sorry to hear about the knee. Although where you live, you don't even need to ice it -- you could just walk outside for a few minutes. That ought to freeze everything right up.

4-6 weeks? That's a long time. By then, who knows -- maybe some of the snow will have melted up there.

Actually, can you still swim? (Note: I'm assuming you have access to an indoor pool. I wasn't suggesting that you pull out the chainsaw to cut through 37 inches of ice on the local pond.) Or, if you can't swim because of the kick, maybe you could just do pull drills?

P.S. Spring Break is a big deal everywhere. Just ask the kids around here....

I suppose I can still swim.  Swimming doesn't involve any knee bending.  I could readjust my goals to make swimming my love goal.
