My tolerance for running in pouring rain has pretty much disappeared. In the UK I used to go whatever the weather but I have turned into a complete sook living in the sunshine state of Queensland. Be fair on yourself though, it's been basically raining for 3 months straight where you are It really has! Thank goodness I don't live in any of the flooded areas! Also thank goodness we got away to Perth over Christmas for a lovely rain free week |

Today I had peas and corn, Dad walks out of his office/my sister's room looks at my plate and comments on how impressed he is that I've been eating so much more fruit and vegetables. He then went to get his food and got himself peas and corn as well and so did my mom. So not only am I eating better because of this challenge my parents are making small changes as well Way to be a positive influence. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge riorio - 2011-01-05 4:37 PM I am assuming that it's OK to just update the spreadsheet once per week? I'm still on board with the challenge and realized a few things this week: 1. I will never get the "no junk food" point. In fact, I really should penalize myself for the amount of sugar that I eat. 2. I actually do drink over 64oz of water per day, even though it sounds like a lot. 3. I only eat 3-4 servings of fruit/veggies which is disgraceful for a vegetarian. My hope is that if I work on getting over 6 servings, then maybe point number 1 can be resolved!
I'm really struggling with these points too. 1. I never add sugar to anything and never drink soda so I thought that would be some easy points but lately the junk food is killing me. 2. I used to drink over 100oz a day but lately find it difficult to drink 64oz. 3. I have always struggled getting enough fruits/veggies in my diet. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge I was planning on a run this evening but I'm just not feeling it. They've issued a red warning day for the air quality and cautioned against exercising outside for the next couple of days. Plus I'm tired from too many late nights recently and discouraged from all the stuff I have to do, most have to do with our cars/trucks. We have four cars/trucks for three people and they all have problems. One car has an engine problem and doesn't work at all but should be going again soon. The newest car developed an electrical problem somewhere that is draining the battery (battery good and alternator charging but something is draining power). My truck just decided that it wasn't going to let me shift on my way home today and the ABS quit working on my son's truck which makes driving in the snow a little more interesting. And with all these troubles with vehicles I don't dare go spend the money I saved for my bike. OK, pity party over. At least I'm not sick and I also have a job that allows me to work from home when I need to so I can survive without my truck for a couple days. |

Also thank goodness we got away to Perth over Christmas for a lovely rain free week I used to live in some of those areas and survived 15 floods during the time I was there (each time saw us isolated to the property for around 3 weeks), however it was part of life and you learned to live with it. This time around however, I don't think I've ever heard my friends still living there be so concerned about it. They really think the rain and floodwater just won't stop |

That really does all suck Might it be time to trade one in for a newer, more reliable vehicle...? Also, whats up with the air quality warning? Ive never come across that before....just curious. |

I might try and sneak a workout in later on tonight depending on how I feel after I get some food in me. It has been fun eating fruits and veggies for a purpose. I know I will miss out on 31 points of the sugar aspect at the end of the month but I am good with it! Kudos to you that win that battle!!! Have a great day everyone! Off for a nap! uggg get better MrGraves! |

Haven't had any soda though It really is! I can do no soda, I can even do no cake if required but I really can't do without a sugar in my morning coffee. Having said that I'm heading off to make a cup of tea, with another sugar in it
It is tough...I made it thru almost all day yesterday till there were homemade chocolate chip cookies sitting on my counter last night. Can not say no. We had tollhouse cookies w/ whipped cream on top last night -- so bad but sooooo good! So NOT nice! I am almost there...first day with no junk/sugar...maybe I should just go to bed now. |

Updated the spreadsheet, I really need to eat more fruit and veggies... i need to update too! it's past midnight here now, another day. am i the only one surprised by how many fruits and veggies i do eat and how easy it is to eat more? I'm surprised by how little I ate but it has been pretty easy to eat more. i will admit living in tropical paradise and indonesia particularly, people here just naturally have fruits and veggies as a huge part of their diet. it's a lot easier to get fresh fruit or fresh cut fruit than something processed, every roadside corner has a fruit vendor. I'm quite jealous and it reminds me of Nairobi. I walked to work past George the fruit guy. I would take a tupperware container everyday and pick 3/4 fruits for him to chop up amazingly fast and make me a fruit salad to take away which cost me next to nothing My favourite was mango, watermelon, pineapple and banana. He also always had the largest avocados I have ever seen to pick up for dinner on the way home. mmmmmm now this makes me drool! Sounds wonderful. |

Between traveling for business and being too exhausted at night (from traveling on business) to sit down and catch up on 120+ posts, it's all I can do log what little I am doing. So far, so good on the S/B/R...well, no swim, but I'm waiting for the New Year's resolutioners to lose their momentum at the pool. Keeping up with my strength routine. Fruits and veggies--could be better. Water? I've got that pretty much covered (except for on the days with business travel if you know what I mean). Junk, sugar, soda? Hit and miss. But I'm trying. Glad to see so many of you are doing so well. You are inspirations to me. Keep up the good work! |
