Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No race for me this week. I have a sprint du (2mi-15mi-2mi) in about three weeks. First tri is St Patty's in mid March - not sure I will get in another before LS (Hawaii is out for me...) - maybe if there is an olympic around close by- I'll have to check Tri-Find.... Anyway on the training front: Did a 1000TT today - 18:54 - that is an improvement since Dec 6 of 2:10! Pace was comfortably below 2:00/100 at 1:53. Consistency in the pool and drills are paying off! |

I am contemplating joining the masters again this semester. I do feel like I get a great workout in and it is motivational. Hate all the kicking and Medley drills, but I skip alot of that crap anyway. I can always just swim laps, but wondering how much the INTENSITY of the group really helps. Time to start swimming...one way or the other. I think if you have motivation issues than Masters is great. Plus if there is a real coach you will get little tips and the drills/intervals are great for getting faster. Plus in a lane assignment you can be pushed by other swimmers when other times you might slack off. Yep, I went ahead and bit the bullet and joined. I thought about saving the money this time and just doing some lap swim, but I really don't think I would push myself nearly as hard swimming laps. I do modify alot of the kicking drills and medley crap to fit triathlon training. But, I have to give FULL credit to the masters last year for teaching me to swim...I felt like I gained alot in a year with those guys. Good choice Barry. And you are totally correct. I am that way as well. I go to a bike class on Tuesday nights. I work way harder than I would if I was doing that workout as home. We have these individually programmed HRM the we use. Last night showed I burned 1297 calories!! I was sweating like a pig!! There's your visual. I'm off for a swim. Um, technically pigs don't sweat... they don't have sweat glands.... Ouch.... Ummm...Thats what she said? What does that mean? Have you been watching Corner Gas re-runs again. That's Hank's line... |

Can this be true?! I've only trained three days this week, and I am due for a 2.2 mile run tomorrow, as well as upper body strength training. I'm so confused.... |

Who is racing this weekend? gives us the goods! Very pumped for the weekend. I am riding in a 6 man team time trial on the CT this weekend at the Multi-sport Expo in Milwaukee. Good team, Great people, Hopefully Good Times! I plan on crushing myself to see what this old body can do for 45 minutes all out at max wattage! (Goal is to stay above the 20 mph mark at 250 average watts or better.....we will see what course they make us ride) Then later in the day I signed up for a 15 minute swim stroke analysis in an endless pool. I have always wanted to swim in one of those things and have never seen an underwater video of my stroke, so I get to kill 2 birds with one stone. If anybody is in the Milwaukee- Chicaog area this weekend...come on up for the show. It is a blast. Here is a link.... http://www.multisportexpo.com/index.htm |

Can this be true?! I've only trained three days this week, and I am due for a 2.2 mile run tomorrow, as well as upper body strength training. I'm so confused.... The training plan is a guideline and you can exceed the time/distances alloted. You want to rememebr to take tiime to rest and have your body heal. All that building of muscle is really tiny tears in the muscles ( that's what allows them tio get bigger and stronger) which require time to heal and that is what the off days and recovery weeks are for. If you push too hard or too long when your body is not used to it you can seriously hurt yourself. Just ask almost anybody in the group You're doing great Trina just keeping working at it and you will exceed your expectations. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just have to say that I caught this yesterday, and also again today. For the past 3 days, I have made a post and it was the first post on a new page, thought it was funny yesterday with 2 days, now its three. Random thought of the morning ![]() My plan to get up and down a 1.5 hour run on the treadmill this morning did not happen. My bike ride last night took a lot out of me! My wife and I are babysitting our niece and nephew tonight they are 8 months and 2.5 yrs respectively. We took tomorrow off, which is good, I have 2 hours of workouts to get in before we go back to Iowa for the weekend for a friends wedding. Did some more flip turns last night in the pool and watched some videos last night, now I have a better idea of what I need to focus on to get them down. Another pool day tomorrow! I just got a glance today at my monthly totals, man I have been putting in some time on the bike! Last night I adjusted my adamo yet again, this time just moving it forward, and I think I crossed the point where I get benefit from it. I felt pushed too far forward, but had almost no pain, so I moved it back about half way of what I had adjusted it from and hope that is my sweet spot. When you measure how far behind the BB you are, what point on the seat do you measure from? After today, 2 more work days until I am off for almost 2 weeks on vacation ![]() |

I would probably keep them on or you may be able to hold length wise in your hand and the sleeve will come off over it. |

Before, actually when Tracy posted that youtube video of her transition I saw one that my coach did. Had a couple good tips in it, one was to hold your goggles and cap in your hand and when you pull your wetsuit off leave them in the sleeve, all in one motion, good place to store them. Going to try that out. Normally I just drop them in a pile near all my junk under the bike. |

Not at all, I giggle every time we talk about strippers... I guess I dont' put that much thought into it, get out of water, blindly reach back and try to find the string and pull zipper down, pull wetsuit down to waist and when I get to strippers flop down on my back and hold my feet up. Also make sure I pick one of the big guys, make eye contact or point at him so he knows I need him to pull the suit off. Edited by dalessit 2010-01-28 9:05 AM |
