mighty mom - 2011-02-28 9:20 AM Thanks all for the kudos!

Anyone here a Biggest Loser fan?  I literally bumped into Mark Kruger yesterday at packet pick up. He ran the marathon in 3:25 and won his division.  I wasn't a huge fan of his when he was on the show but I give him a lot of credit for changing his life.  The man looked good!

ya i know him and his brother Jay. 3:25 is amazing. i saw the " where are they now" episodes, and saw him kick butt on the San Fran Tri.

Super proud of this month's workouts!  I only missed one planned workout all month, and that was a swim because of some rescheduled classes and meetings before last weekend.  This is my most ever running mileage in a month, too!

Most important to me is just consistency, so I'm loving all the peaches this month! *pats self on back*

tpnguyen10 - 2011-02-28 9:36 AM My month is over here & I can't believe we're moving into March already.  Where does the time go??  Albeit being sick earlier this month, I put in some good volume on the bike, but lacked a bit in the swimming dept.  I hope to bring that up a bit next month.  I did close out the month with 18 holes of extremely competive golf..

February's totals:
Bike:19h 22m 42s  - 613.65 KM
Run:11h 52m 56s  - 126.25 KM
Swim:6h 39m 43s  - 15600 M
Strength:2h 00m
Golf:4h 30m

Holy Cow!  How do you manage to get that much in on the bike?  Are those trainer miles, group rides, or do you just get out and get it done?  Nice job.

Redknight - 2011-02-28 10:44 AM

I got the results of my swim video last week and it sure isn't pretty watching yourself in the pool. Can you say Beached Beluga. I need to get out in the sun. It seems I am entering the water to soon with my arm. I was taught to drop my hand into the water just above my head and then reach forward. This time I was working with a true swim coach and she wants me to reach much farther ahead before I re-enter the water with my arm. The rest of my form was OK even though I was swimming with a sore back. As she said most of us in triathlons are not true swimmers but survival swimmers.

Now for the weird part. I had a dream last night and in it I was swimming. I was actually consciously trying to correct my stroke and reach forward in the dream. This stuff really gets inside your head. If I could only get the fitness I need by sleeping and dreaming about it.. That would be great but then again I would probably have to do my races while sleeping then.

My coach has me doing the same thing on the reach.  She wants my recovering arm completely relaxed and fully extended when it hits the water.    Funny that you should mention the swim dreams.   That happened to me last week after doing a bunch of kicking drills on my side.  I would wake up on my left side and decide it was time to roll over onto my right side for the next round of dreams.

A little better month than the previous months, but it is not time to get some serious time in.  The trees are starting to bloom out here in the south...and we are having some 70 degree days.  Gotta like it.

February's totals:
Bike:13h 58m  - 230 Mi
Run:9h 45m  - 55.2 Mi
Swim:4h 41m  - 11900 Yd

Gotta do some run focus this month.

February's totals:

Run:13h 05m 18s  - 98.03 Mi
Swim:6h 50m  - 12900 Yd

Kind of low on the run miles 7 weeks out from the marathon, due to the last week of being a bit sick and life in general, but it is what it is.  I will be ramping back up this week, heading into a nice long run this weekend.

Ha!! The dream talk reminded me that I had my first IM anxiety dream last week when I was visiting my folks in Arizona. It was funny!! Best as I can remember it... I remember the swim was going on and I wasn't swimming. I thought, "Huh, maybe I should join them? Nah, what does it matter? Maybe I'll just skip the swim this time." I was totally low key about it. During the race, I came to remember that I had made the odd decision to mix all of my drinks during transition (i.e. measuring powder into the bottles, adding water, mixing, chilling, etc.) and realized that -- shoot! -- my transition times were gonna be really slow! Like 30 minutes slow! Decided that wasn't my smartest move and that perhaps I should have mixed my drinks in advance.

That's all I remember. Thought it was a funny dream, though. I must say, the swim and the transitions are NOT parts of a race that stress me out. Ever. Ha!!

Run:3h 50m 42s  - 32.71 KM
Swim:4h 55m  - 9500 M

Considering I didn't log all my swims and I pretty much missed last week I guess I am happy with it.
KM for biking are off as I don't log them on the trainer.. just hours. Met a new guy with our run club that has a computrainer I get to try in the future.

Second week of physio is underway. I am cleared to spin, just no intervals and I have to stop if I feel any pain.

I rode my mountain bike with my friend/mentor on her 15km run last weekend. Then met with the running group and stayed with them for the 6.5km run. Trying to keep socialized with the group and not become too detached. It helped with the sanity. I was able to ride back to a group of new runners help them modify their route on the fly to 4.5km so they could complete the run.

Funny they had the same issue I had when new.. going out too hard at first and gassing out at 1-2km into the run.

Anyways... I guess it was good. Still no running allowed. have to do my workouts for physio now....all the best everyone.

Thanks Barry. Definitely one of my biggest bike months ever.  There was a lot of pain in those numbers.  I have the benefit of hot/humid weather everyday, so most of my rides were outside either solo or with my regular training partner.
