No races for me this weekend.

What has made my workouts easier???

Well, in the morning it will be new wheels!  Got the cassette put on and the tires and tubes on today, so in the morning I am looking forward to getting out there and trying them out.  Motivation!

Actually i think getting out the door early in the mornings on a more regular basis has helped me be more consistent.  Sometimes it is hard, but I always am happy that a good workout is out of the way and can go on with the day.

fattyfatfat - 2011-03-02 2:01 PM if you can wait,  i've been here a bunch of times.  the shop in arlington is across the street from one of my best friends place.   edit.. of course tony and sam have more local knowledge they can offer.   there's also a super pollo around the corner that's awesome.  great chicken and plantains!!!

also, can you stick with your current brand and purchase a pair or two of nike's for the office?

Ya know what John, you might just be right...  It would only be an issue if I workout at their gym (which apparently is awesome).  And, I'll get a discount when I work there, so I'll let my trial be at least on a pair of shoes that didn't cost me a ton of money, because I'll need a new pair about the time I get there anyway.

But I may still stop in that store for fun!

Apparently, we're going to a vietnamese restaurant for dinner on Friday.  I voted for tapas, but was out-voted.  Bummer...  Any good breakfast places for Sunday?

John is right if you're in Arlington there's Potomac River Running in the same store as Contes which is an awesome bike shop.  Their folks are good at the shoe slection.  They have a treadmill you'll run on to help.

If you can get a reservation, Liberty Tavern is awesome for sunday brunch.

I'll PM you, with some stuff, and we can try to meet up, if you guys have time.

As for the running route I leave the pentagon and run along the potomac, over the memorial bridge, past the lincoln memorial, past the reflecting pool (which has no water in it due to repairs right now), past the washington monument, along the mall next to the smithsonian, then turn around at the capital.  LOL, lots of cool sights.

hhmmmmm, that route sounds very familiar.Wink

No races.. just dreaming of being able to run.

All my PT visits are done for this week now. Patellra is getting loose.. almost back to normal for the tendon.

My balance and core are getting better. More signs. I have very tight quads that I need to work on more for stretching. Not just after work outs but all the time. Now I have to buy a Bosa Ball. All my balancing and core work I have done for the last two weeks have improved to a point I need to now do it on a Bosa Ball. I did that today at physio for 30 mins.. WOW much more difficult.

And watching the girl show me a single leg squat with her other leg straight out in front on a bosa ball was amazing.

I was cleared to spin with some resistance and I did 45 mins last night in my bottom ring on the front and middle ring on the back At least I got my HR up to 135 for 40 mins. and was able to sweat a little...

Still NO running.. I suspect I won't run for another two weeks at least.

Spring plans are changing for me now. I just hope to be back to a point where I can help my friend with her learn to run clinic in April now. THEN SLOWLY build base...as long as I can do my Sprint in JUNE I will be happy.

July and August are dedicated to scuba diving this year for me so I can be prepared for some big and DEEP dives in late August Going to see some GREAT wrecks in 280-310 feet underwater. I am sure I will do a few 5k running races in there and still put volume on my bike.. but no Trialthons during that time.

Then some racing in september

No races for me this week, but what about you?  Provide the details!!!

For those of us still dreaming about that first race of '11 or Spring for that matter, what have you recently discovered that's made your day? or your workouts easier?

Definitely getting up at 4:30am and driving 30 min for a swim with triathletes with a Tri coach makes it all worth it.  I discovered that I have FINALLY FINALLY got SUB 2:00/100m!!! It wasn't even that difficult actually.  I think because I'm with a group I'm faster. The best part is that we get to do ows stimulation drills - which I find is extremely helpful trying to draft and get in the groove of the start of a washing machine.  So, I'm going to do this EVERY Tuesday.  It makes the swim workouts more fun (out of all three, I don't like the swim).

Linda, that stinks!  I'm so sorry!  I used to get strep throat every other month consistently, and finally got my tonsils taken out when I was 21.  It was PAINFUL, but totally worth it!  I know how miserable it can be!  I hope you feel better soon!

Christina, Sam, and Tony - I just found out I won't get my schedule until 7:30am Friday morning!  Ugh!  I promise to let you guys know!  Christina, what run do you have planned for this weekend?  I have a 7 miler.  My schedule might be a bit busy, but I'll keep you updated.  What else will you be doing while you're there?  How cool that we'll be there the same weekend!  I hope we can all make this work, even though these darn trials are getting in the way.  Tongue out

You're right - every big road in DC!!!!  Cherry Blossom, Army 10-miler, MCM and the list continues.  :-)  Although one can't complain about the great sights only the tourists in the spring!!!!

Sounds good - just PM or give us a call when you know your schedule.  I have a 90min run on Sunday so I could join you as well especially if you have to run early - safety in numbers.  Normally I would not be concerned running around most parts of NW DC and Arlington early but you has talked about starting before daybreak.  And the Mt. Vernon trail does not have street lights.  We have some head lamps if necessary so we can figure something out.

Sweet ride. Yes long torso. Man that looks way too agressive for someone like me!

Is there someone sitting at the desk?
Enough shoes boxes?

Is that book shelf Cherry?
And yes, smash those reflectors.

Love Cranium!! and StarCraft... hours of fun!!

Do you like buying shoes in threes?  I do the same with pants.. If I like them, no reason to change a good thing... so buy three pairs.

Sweet ride btw.. badass color scheme. no name yet?  don't forget to take off all those warning stickers! .

so, in your spare time you enjoy laying different types of tile.  very good.

but why are you blocking that window with that book case?  or more importantly, why is there a shutter on the inside of that window.  or do you just have random shutters hanging around your place?

awesome ride!!!  in no time you'll be faster than me... literally no time at all.    and yes,  a good bike fit makes a big difference.

have fun!!!

Christina - I'm positive you can keep up with me!  You have a lot more experience with the longer distances, so we'll probably be at a pretty close pace anyway.

Sam - I'm positive I CAN'T keep up with you, though!  Your easy runs are still faster than my fast runs!

I NEVER even thought about bringing my head lamp.  Darn it!

My plan calls for a run on Saturday, but I could definitely do it Sunday morning and start later when it's light out.  Do you think I'd be too worn out to do a 2 hour bike ride after the flight though on Sunday night?

It all depends on my schedule!  I'll PM you guys my phone number.  Do you both text?  I'm a texting machine!

??Trevor? – Nope no one sitting there, just a bundle of clothes, that’s only about 1/3 or all my shoes lol and you are correct the bookshelf is cherry

Tuffli – Those are two of my favorite games but my top two are Monopoly (silver tin on top of cranium) and Taboo, and if I really like a shoe I just get all the different colors that come out lol, I think 7 of the same shoe is the most I have ever done

Kyla – Stickers and reflectors will be ditched ASAP!! Can have anything messing up my look, I may not be fast but I can look it!

John – LMAO@ the tile, an artistic attempt gone wrong. and that’s not a widow, that’s the door to the boiler room. I dont know about being faster than you soon, my 1st two rides have been about 14-16mph long way to go
