Sounds like an easy day, don't do too long of a swim though.  Anything over 2.4 would probably be a little much.

I checked with the consulate but "it's in the process" answer does not bring anything new to me unfortunately.

And even if we could have a letter, she would still need her passport at the border; without passport, no crossing.

Alex isn't our passport embedded in our drivers license as well? Check out the migration if u can use that along with your citizenship. Good luck.

I think that's only if you have an enhanced license. Which might be worth a try looking into, usually doesn't take long to get a regular license so maybe it would be faster than waiting for a passport?

SEADOCHA - 2012-07-12 8:58 AM What will your running be like this weekend? HOw many miles or minutes/hour/s are in your plan for the wknd?

1 hour walk today, 3.5 hours super easy on the bike tomorrow (saturday) followed up with a 20 minute transition run. Probably off on Sunday. Bike intervals on Monday and a little yoga, swim tuesday, head to LP on Wednesday.

What is all this "packing" stuff everyone keeps talking about? I was planning on just tossing some stuff in a bag on wednesday morning before my flight. Is that a bad idea?

Just and FYI:

I get bored on the bike so I have a tendency to be singing while on it... I will be taking requests on race day

lucky you to be able to take requests.  typically on race day I get one song stuck in my head.  It'll be random and come from left field and I'll just sing the chorus over and over and over and over.  I told Kristen that we're going to be careful about what music we play on our long drive from Georgia to LP.

You are going to be WAY faster than me, but in the off chance we happen to cross paths, I want to put in an early request for Prince's "Sexy MF," preferably the extended dance version.

I figure if I take requests, I will get to sing more than just the one song that is stuck in my head(which actually tends to be christmas music for some reason...)

Ill take the 10% chance of rain at mile 16 please.  Make it a light, misty rain for 3 or 4 miles to cool and energize me.  Also, I would like some puffy clouds during the ride but sun in the morning.  Thank you.

I was singing John Denver during LP training camp. Love singing on my bike.  I will also take requests. Hopefully not John Denver.

2 QUESTIONS:

do they have an aid station before you begin the run or should I have an extra water in my transition bag?

to purchase a finisher's jacket I hear that people line up the next morning at 5:00am. Is the line very long? Do they normally run out that quick? I would like to atleast try one on before they run out .Worst case I can order one online. I would hope they save one of every size so people can try them on before ordering. Anyone know this info???

There is a station as you exit T2 tent so you don't need to stuff bottles in your bag. Can't speak to last year, but in 2010 the finishers jackets sold out quickly and I did not get on onsite. That said they put a bunch more on the website about a month later and I got one there. I don't think you need to be there by 5. Maybe you can ask someone how many they ordered for the race to see what kind of ratio there will be? Say there are 2500 finishers, how many did they bring kind of thing?

How bout a Summer Nights duet?  I'll sing Olivia's part -  I'm secure in my heterosexuality.

Last year when I went to go sign up for this years race.  The line for the Ironman Store was just as long as the signing up for the race.  I want to say I was there around 6 - 6:30.  I was really surprised how long the line was.  I may have my wife stand in line that morning since I probably will not be able to walk .  People seemed to go to them first.  They definitely had a bunch and there was a separate table towards the check out that was taking orders if your size was not there.  If I recall they did have some jackets behind the table they were using for people to try on to get there size. The other interesting thing I wasn't expecting to see that morning was thousands of people walking around like they were like 90 years old.

Question about the swim start everyone.  Will be interested to read responses.  I am going to be a MOP swimmer probably.  Any advice on where to seed/place myself relative to the start line?

Have heard about this big vacant area between the crowded start line and the beach.  Some folks say that's a great place to start...very little "traffic".

 Thanks for the advice.

With a predicted UV index of 9, what do people suggest? Hat or visor? I usually wear a visor, but a hat may be better. I have read there isn't a lot of shade on the run, is that true? Plus, with a hat, you can stuff ice in it to cool yourself off better. May have to go get a hat...and if I do, that means it will be cloudy and rainy Tongue out
