Nice brick today, Jayne!

let's talk about this run after bike thing.  is it always muscle cramping on the run or is it stomach, side stitches or feeling gassed???

When do you take your last nutrition on the bike?  And how much water on the bike???

EN is great, but it's not always going too hard on the bike that ruins the run...just sayin'

Especially not for olympic distance racing...

Stomach is never an issue (yeah, I have one thing going for me! LOL).  Usually, especially during races, it's cramping in the calves (more common) and quads (has only happened during last years oly and today's oly distance brick).  Sometimes I feel gassed, but that wasn't the feeling today.  I felt like my breathing and HR on the run were manageable.

This just continues to be really hard work mixed with some good old fashioned experimentation! Smile

Here's a question for you--all of you.  What's the difference between your 10k run pace (just the run), and your 10k run pace for an oly?  How much slower for the triathlon compared to a stand alone run?

For me, all conditions being equal, I can counting on adding 1-2 minutes to my per mile pace - usually about a 10 minute difference.  Let you know current status in 3 weeks!

Dino,

Thanks I am a visual guy and that is a great tip.  I may steal that for my next race.

I'm a visual guy too, I'm putting a picture of Jayne's box on my arm next race...

I like the EN box idea, my bike leg always seem to suffer if I push the swim.

So David, this is when you post right?  It's 4:30 AM EST now.

Yes, I post when you're all asleep then occasionally someone notices but most times it gets missed/ignored!

So untrue, but recently you seem to be getting a bigger response from the ladies when you include pictures of your dog in your posts?  Foot in mouth

NOT TRUE.  There are times when you're online and I am sitting there drinking my morning JAVA.  I answer if I have insight.  If I don't I leave it up to Fatty or Trev to fake it.

Hola, everybody! Sorry I've been MIA. I've been out of town (funeral, wedding, work) and then in my spare time catching up on Olympics and taking the dog to the ER vet (chocolate!!) so little time to Internet. I'll go back on the threat and read what I missed! Hope everyone's training is going well! I'm volunteering at Wisconsin so I should see some of you - I'll be at run aid station #1.  It's coming up soon! I have a couple of my trianing buddies racing so I'll be there for the whole race. Coming up on Saturday night and driving home Monday morning. I have my last tri of this year on Sunday (Chicago). My training since Racine has taken a nosedive but I've been doing some interval work but maybe that is more important with the shorter distance. I've been battling some PF in both feet recently. It used to be just tight heels and just an inconvenience but now it has progressed to actual pain sometimes.

I FINALLY wrote my RR from the a sprint in the beginning of August. No one got any pix of me wearing my helmet backward, though.

Mmmm Java.... I've just got back from a great 2500m swim, just cruised along for 100 laps. I really like doing this once a month, gives you confidence that all those short sets work.

Now enjoying a large cappuccino made from some coffee I bought from a new local roaster, it's called "Cockadoodle Brew!"

I learned today that clam chowder before a bike ride is NOT a good idea. Major Pain in the gut.  Also my right shoulder is not good as new. I was feeling ok when I started the ride but at about 30 min. it started hurting a little so I cut short the ride.  Right now it feels ok so hopefully I'm on the mend.

I haven't done 100 laps start before I think I'd better give it a try.

Racing at the Lake Tahoe Marathon Festival in just under 6 weeks.  Seeing as it starts with a 2.5 mile swim, thought I may want to pick up some yardage in the pool.  Oweee......Lord, am I out of shape.

Sending a message to the RD: are noodles allowed?!?

Not ignored, It's just that we're trying to figure out what that horrible noise is that's interrupting our dreams--Usually dream me is running effortlessly on a beach under the stars.  Then I realize it's my alarm and reality sets in.  Ugh  5am workouts!

No need to be confused. When in doubt, just know that it's all about John hitting it. That's all you need to know to fill in the gaps.

It's a totally cool event that I got suckered into get to race with my Wednesday Women bike buddies!   www.laketahoemarathon.com

It's got 25+ events, over a 3 day span.  You get to choose your poison!  Friday, I'm swimming 2.5 miles in Lake Tahoe.  Saturday, biking 72 around the entire lake.  Sunday, we're finishing up with a 10k, and then - hopefully - wine.

I'm really looking forward to it - except the racing part!  Sitting here right now trying to get myself psyched up to do the local 'Run Like a Girl' event.  My motivation is waning as the sun goes down.......

That Lake Tahoe thing looks fantastic! I'd love to go to that, awesome scenery too.

They do a few things during the Noosa Triathlon week here - Running races, ocean swims, cycling events etc - but nothing as good as that! Have fun Linda!
