Today I started about 1.5 pages behind...

Not sure I've ever been so amused and motivated in such a short period and at the same time.  This group is really great.  You all make me chuckle, make me feel good, make me want to keep pushing.

Thanks for such a great read today.

My shorts are longer than Danial Craig's. The In-laws came in last night. What is with the 100 lbs. bags? They had 4 of them plus other "lighter" bags. They also flew on separate planes so that they had to be picked up at different terminals and different times. Nothing like making things easy on us. Here's the real catch...my wife left for the beach with her tennis teammates. So its me the kids and the in-laws. And I have a tri on Sunday. I may just walk around in my swim trunks 24/7 until it is time for the race!

(only 13 days till they leave).

When my wife ran Baltimore there was some dude that had a shirt that had that spot, then fanning out into 2 giant triangles underneath.  I felt really bad for that guy.

Oh yeah Suzy, getting my first workouts from Lowell today, getting excited about starting a plan up.

I am thinking I really want to run this marathon sub 4 hours, 9:00/mile.  not sure if I will get there but thats my current goal.

Hey Doug

What kind of tyr tri shorts are we talking about?  Maybe you should post a photo of yourself!  I don't see any reason why you couldn't wear those if you wanted to, but maybe I am missing something.

Cool. If you told Lowell you wanted a sub four I assume that is what you will train to do.  Given your half marathon, I don't think that is an unrealistic goal at all.  You have four months plus taper to get there.  It will be interesting to see how you handle/like the reduction in B/S.  I piled everything on top of running and while I had a great time, my run performance could have been better if I hadn't. Excited for you!

So racers, what are your goals?

This ahs taken on a life of its own. I wear a Trisuit when I race. I wear bib shorts and cycling jerseys when I am on the bike not racing. I wear t-shirts and running shorts when I run. So the only time I wear swim trunks is when training in the pool (or playing with the kids in the pool). They are tight like lycra and come down the tigh about 4". One pair is blue and the other is black. I think she wants me to wear baggie shorts at the beach. Only problem is, since I lost the wieght, I have no baggie shorts that fit.

I can't wait to read all the race reports next week.

Yes, I'm turning 36 years old this weekend. Just because I'm getting older doesn't mean I am maturing.

How can you be old at 36 when I haven't even gotten close to it at 46?  Be kind!

Some local BT'ers are riding a loop of the IM WI course on Saturday at oh-dark-thirty and I am going along with them.  Very pysched.  I've never done it.  How hard can it be after last weekend?  FAMOUS LAST WORDS!

Not 'old' just 'older'...
I missed Reubens post at the top of the page...and he said it well...."Not sure I've ever been so amused and motivated in such a short period and at the same time.  This group is really great.  You all make me chuckle, make me feel good, make me want to keep pushing."

Thanks everyone for the inspires.  I think I just really haven't been getting enough sleep.  Made sure the last few days that I paid attention to getting enough sleep and feel great today.

LOL, now I have to get a couple good training sessions in between now and my race on Sunday but playing Golf with my Brother and my son on Friday, I volunteered at a road race on Saturday and then I race on Sunday.

Up until now I didn't have any goals for this weekend but just thought of some.

1. start swim right in the middle of the pack
2. Don't be a spaz in T1
2. Ride a smart race, don't ride it like I am riding a TT, it's cool to avg 23mph but if that takes all of your energy, doesn't work well for a tri
3. run a mental free 8k.  No phantom sticks, numb feet, phantom blisters, etc that have plagued me in anything more than a sprint
4. pay better attention to my nutrition, could be part of my run issues.

No real time goals, but race a complete race.

So at my OWS clinic, they told us to always start at the front.  The reason why is that the more faster people will have no problem passing the slower ones, but the slower people have trouble passing those that are only a little less slow.  I am going to try it on my next tri.

BTW - I love the "don't be a spaz in T1" goal!

JHagerman - 2009-06-25 9:09 AM
dalessit - 2009-06-25 9:49 AM A fun challenge getting ready to start.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=165689&posts=62&start=1

Each team is tied to a team racing in the Tour de France.  Makes it a bit more interesting than the normal challenges, last year when my team won a stage I posted a picture of the winner crossing the line in every other team's thread, so some good trash talking going on.  Though 1/2 my TdF team got kicked out for EPO (Sanuier Duval) so I got quite a bit more heaped back at me but it was fun.  Also if you don't really follow pro cycling gives you a team to root for.

Hmm so based on my work schedule, I'd have about 8 days next month to commit to long rides.  If each ride were only about 38 miles, that would put me at just over 300 miles.  I've never done 300 miles in a single month.  Hmm.

Any other SWBKRUN peeps doing this?  Wanna ask to be on the same team?

I'm in on the TdF.  I have been in the June running challenge and it is great fun.  I have also run more this month than since high school!

Sorry to be MIA this week...I've had very little training time and even less computer time.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.  I've got a sprint, we'll just see how it goes.

Have a great weekend everyone!
