D001 - 2009-02-27 10:40 AM CUPCAKES? Ummmmmmmmm!

Cupcakes are finished!  They are not in their pretty delivery box yet but I'll post a picture in a minute.  Not my best work but they are for Kindergartners.  What do they care, right!

Some schools/parents around here won't let people bring cupcakes/cakes for their kids b-days into school.  They don't want their kids consuming the mass quantities of sugar on most cakes.

I can understand the parents point of view but sometimes we need to let our hair down.

Boo for that!  Our school is pretty lax about stuff like this.  We even had a Christmas party!   It's always at the end of the day so the teach can send home the kids all sugared up!   I did use the less sugar cake mix though.

The whole sugar making kids hyper thing is crap, too.  I was just reading a study on that.   Basically, in group 1,  they told parents they would be giving their kids sugar and instead gave them vegetables and the parents reported the kids being hyper.  In group 2, they said the kids would get vegetables and instead got sugar.  Parents did not report kids as being hyper.

I just started an experiment with my kids (6,7, & 8).  I'm allowing them one 8oz Dr Pepper at lunch before going to karate.  Theory is the caffeine helps them to focus.  So far (2 weeks), it seems to be working.  I'm not sure how much is perception and how much is fact.  It's hard to find something to measure with kids & focus.

Interesting.  They are less caffeine addicted than I am.

Btw - My name is Stacie. I live in Oklahoma. I have done 1 5k in my life but haven't attempted a tri yet since I lack a vital part (I don't know how to swim). Currently I am lacking in motivation (even though I would think the number on the scale would provide me enough motivation currently) but hoping this challenge will help with that.

For swimming, I was in the same boat.  I knew how to swim but never correctly or for laps.  I bought a book - Total Immersion, practiced that on my own for a few months and then took an adult swim class at the city pool ($35).  The biggest help was getting into the pool 4+ times a week.

Ditto here except I did the swim class first then found out about TI and am currently reading my 2nd TI book (although it's all the same info ~ basically).

To kill two birds...errrr, posts, with one stone ~ my first race that includes swimming will be next weekend so we shall see if it's all panning out.  Don't hesitate to say a little prayer for me (and more requests will come as the time gets closer) as I am scared to death that I just might drown in the open water and become fish food!

Also, where is Terrace Something or Other?  I didn't quote your post on where you lived and I don't feel like going back to look for it as I need to go get dressed while Sammi is sleeping.

I was stationed on the sub base in Pearl for a little over years.  I remember the "winters" there.  The locals would break out the heavy winter coats if it got <55!  I always thought it was funny.

Halsey Terrace.  It's in Honolulu, off of Salt Lake.  Loved it!

I laughed at those people too Ken until I became one!   It didn't take long either!

You can use either one. Whichever you like better.

To add it to your log page.... Hm. I'm assuming you're using the default settings for BT.... If so:

Just highlight the table, and paste it into your log.

If you're not using the BT defaults, let me know, and I'll tell you how to copy the actual code. (It's not hard, but it means I have to paste it into the thread and give you some directions (which isn't a big deal).)

Don't worry. Come March 1st, we will make sure you're motivated. (And we have the complete taser collection to help ensure this.)
