Jedd325 - 2010-07-10 11:29 AM Hey everyone, just checking in to see where you found the times/waves/race numbers you had. I am signed up but do not believe I was assigned a number yet. I just see on the ironman racine website the list of participants. Thanks for the help.

On the right side of the ironmanracine.com main page there's two links under race essentials -

Ironman Racine 70.3 course water temperature today on July 10 was 65 degrees.  I did a swim today trying to follow the course by swimming out from the very north end of the beach about 100 yards and then cut right down the beach.  I have a sleveless suit, and the people that I swam with had sleeved 2XU suits.  I got in with courage and it was freaking coldSurprised on the feet.  I then dove in under the water and what a shock to the system.  Cold and very clear water and today it was super flat at 6:30 AM.  I was surprised at the depth for most of the swim as I could stand up in most spots and even for a short time my hands could scrape the bottom (I'm not that big)  After about 5 minutes, my arms without the sleeves felt strangely warm, and then the swim was not too bad.  I spent the time concentrating on breathing on both sides.  Why?  Because it seems to help with that dizzy feeling swimming in cold water and when you get out you dont look like some drunk crawling out to find your bike.  You have to cross the beach about 150 yards to the transition area so it would be good to think about if you will run, walk, run slow when you celebrate getting out of the ice cooler.

We rode slow at 17-18 about 30 miles of the course heading north and then to the end west.  We got back at 9:30 and it was 79 degrees.  Figure at someone that finishes the ride at 11, the temp was at 83 today.  A forecast for a nice hot run for us northerners.

so...if I am in the 7:10 25-29wave...how/when will i be able to get int he water to warmup? is it possible?

and while we are at that...I am almost positive I am probably in the worst shape of anyone who is signed up.  That is the truth...from finishing up planning for my wedding, then wedding, then two weeks in honeymoon in Mexico, then sick for 4-5days with Montezumas revenge...then to Vegas for world series of poker tournies...I have basically lost 6 weeks of anything.

With that said...LETS GO!!!!!

Thought wetsuit strippers were just for the full IM?? And considering we exit on the beach, I'm gonna guess no.

I would love a get together on Saturday!!

The best (decent) hotel that I found as of a week or two ago that was not too far away was the Staybridge Suites in Franklin, near the airport.  About 13 miles away.  Not too bad.

I spoke with a WTC employee and they said they were aware of the major drafting that's been known to take place at Racine in recent years....let's hope that means lots and lots of penalties for the pelotons.

i mean hey, they got the funds to hire the right amount refs right?

not to my knowledge.

i have never participated in a WTC event where athlete race briefings were mandatory.  I like to attend race briefings simply for the social aspect.

only things that have been mandatory for the WTC events I've done is you have to make the deadline for athlete check in and bike check in.

furthermore, i am not aware of any language in the athlete package that contains information to the contrary.

good luck on race day!

For those of you who want to keep track of water temperatures at Racine. This is the best site. It is updated quite frequently through out the day.

HI,

Was it deep! I don't know why I am so nervous about the swim. I have pre-race jitters!
