![]() Fred D - 2012-08-02 2:53 PM tri808 - 2012-08-02 8:50 PM . I was riding a slice. It is a replacement frame (free) as my previous frame was defective.Fred D - 2012-08-02 2:15 PM I guess I can keep lots of nutrition in that basket huh? Yeah, enough nutrition in there so that you can experiment to the point that makes you sick. GD reference of the day. On a more serious note, what type of TT bike were you riding before the slice? It's pretty much impossible for me to ride a slice because of the short top tube. Sucks because I can get the best deals on Cannondales through my LBS. LOL...I meant what were you riding before your defective slice? Or was the slice your first tri bike? I'm guessing it wasn't since it couldn't have been more than a couple years old. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Fred D - 2012-08-02 6:59 PMI've been trying to avoid Olympic news all day, but on my iPad USA today just pushed some message about phelps. I hope that didn't just spoil everything for me. I hate the time delay.... The local news here in Iowa gave a spoiler alert and I had a moment of panic and just ended up running up to the TV to turn it off because I couldn't find the remote to change the channel! At least they gave a spoiler alert. |

LOL on the "basket." There were a few things about my first tri that kept me coming back, and one was that there were people who did it on bikes with baskets. |

Well, when we got back from Michigan, this was all that was left of the tree: I counted 87 growth rings, which makes it right at the same age of our house. It is a little depressing every time we come home now. The bulk of the damage to the house was to the front porch - probably less than $20k to fix, but as the wife and I are both architects that will probably rapidly turn into a $400k renovation.... The car is most likely totaled, unfortunately. I talked to the guy at the bodyshop today and he is still at odds with just trying to get all of the glass out of the interior without taking it completely apart. My insurance covers the cost of a rental though, so it is ok for now. The nutty thing is that I had just ordered a new car about 10 days before the storm, but it will not be in for yet another 6 weeks or so. It really sucks as I had planned to keep this one as a third vehicle - it is a great knock-around hauler (I could put 4 bikes in the back even) and was in really good shape - just lots of miles. Probably the best car I have ever owned. Oh well. Oh, man. Sad. Sucks to lose those things ... an old tree and a great car have sentimental value, too. |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow - I've a few days off, and can't keep up with you guys. Fred - glad to see that you got your frame back, and should have plenty of time to get your position tweaked. I think you're going to have a great ride at Tremblant. Rusty - sorry to hear about the car and tree. Hope everything gets resolved the way you want, assuming you keep your design concepts to a minimum... Finally finished my RR. It managed to crash on me three times while trying to write it. Likely the system knew that no-one wanted to read it. Anyhow, here it is: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=453979 |

![]() Solid ride today. Decided to go hard on my second long climb and held 300 watts for 20 minutes without really killing myself. Didn't even mean to do a 20 minute effort as I poured it on the last 8 minutes averaging 315. I'm scheduled to do an all out test next Thursday...I'm thinking of shooting for 310-315. |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Fred, so glad you got the new frameset!! The bike looks great, i hope it provides many miles!!
James, that is a great swim workout!!!
Jason, Awesome ride dood!!!
I have been struggling with motivation the last 2 weeks, i need to regroup this weekend and get my butt in gear!!!
I finally fixed my bike, it also had a broken derailleur pulley, took it for a test spin last night, all's good.
Gonna try and get some decent miles tomorrow on the bike, and i will try to run again starting next Monday.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!! |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 45 mins in the pool this morning. I tried to take things a bit easy as my right shoulder was a wee bit angry after I swam on Wednesday. Sunday is our 12th wedding anniversary and I surprised my wife with a night at an Inn that she has always wanted to stay at (anyone ever seen the show "The Inn Chef", "Chef at home" etc?). Anyway, it includes a 5 course menu with each course created by one of the previous chefs that worked there over the years and that have gone on to run other successful restaurants. I told her about it last night and she's pretty excited! The weather is supposed to be really nice too so we should be able to make a nice day out of it. It's no Hawaii mind you. |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I keep telling myself that all the running/riding in this heat is going to help me by September when I'm hopefully facing cooler temps for race day. Ran 14km this morning and was literally soaked at the end of it (admittedly this was a harder effort run), and that was by 8:30am. I usually wilt in the heat, but I think the hot summer has toughened me up a little bit. |

I usually wilt in the heat, but I think the hot summer has toughened me up a little bit. It's weird. I noticed this week that I sweat more now than ever. I think it's because I adjusted to the dryness, then the humidity snuck in. I was crusted in salt after my 7 mile run earlier this week - and that's a rarity for me. |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Little swim victory this morning! I swam in the 1:30 lane (LCM, ~1:20 SCY) - and I actually executed the entire workout properly and made every single interval. Usually in the 1:30 lane, I'm just hanging on. Maybe I've tapped into the swimmer that's been hiding out somewhere in my body for over 5 years |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I finally got around to writing a race report for a sprint that I did in early July. It's the first race that I've ever been on the OA podium! It's a small race with only 56 racers but most races around here don't get many more than 100 so it was as least a half decent sized field. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=454128&posts=1&start=1 |
