Sorry! cdban66 - 2012-12-27 11:54 AM Asalzwed - 2012-12-27 12:48 PM Richardsdrr - 2012-12-27 11:35 AM Asalzwed - 2012-12-26 6:30 PM I am sooooo jealous of you right now. SXSW is on my bucket list. Country music doesn't get the air time in the UK when compared to the States. There isn't really that much demand for it. Saying that, I noticed the other day that CMA are trying to expand country music out of the states and there is a festival of sorts that is being held in London http://www.axs.com/c2c, I am tempted, if I can scrape some money together this side of Christmas.cdban66 - 2012-12-26 1:24 PM Asalzwed - 2012-12-26 2:13 PM I just got so damned lucky. We are going to Austin again for SXSW in March and it just so happens to fall on my step-back week for marathon training. SO DAMN LUCKY! Also, I got the Boston trip all booked. We are going to fly into NY and do a little sight seeing before heading up to Boston. Going to catch a Brooklyn Nets game while we are there too (thank you Jay-Z.) I'm pretty excited just to see Barclays Center and a ton of other architecture. Notably the High Line (http://www.thehighline.org/). Which is the REAL reason I even want to go to NY. Starting to plan lots of fun stuff in Boston, too. Fenway and the Sam Adams Brewery (not necessarily in that order) are high on my list. Sweet! Any idea on who will be at SXSW? I have heard it is a great festival. I have an ex-coworker that moved there some time ago and she loves it. How long are you in NY? Everyone who is anyone. When I went last year that is what my cousin told me and I didn't believe him. Now I do. Literally, the unofficial SXSW is larger than the official SX. We are talking bands playing in the bathrooms of venues, in alleyways and on the roof of the parking garage. And not just nobody bands. BIG names, or names that are about to be big. The festival is unlike anything I have ever been to. Did I mention the majority of it is free, too? Free food and booze too. This is me throwing knives there last year:
NY will be 3-4 days. Not enough, obviously but I really want the trip to be about Boston. We will give NY the attention it deserves at a later date. That is fantastic! So, SXSW isn't all that country heavy but they do have some. In HS I hated country music but when I moved to the east side of the state for college I vowed to listen to it until I loved it. And I did, too. Still love it. Funny side note, and I find myself bringing this up any time I talk country music but does anyone in here remember Chris Gaines? HA! It was an interesting time period in country music, but, ouch. The poor (?) guy has a career that anyone would kill for and we continue to bring up that spooge! I'm pretty sure he would like to get a mulligan on that one. ETA: Did you know he was known as "THe Pillsbury Cowboy" for a while? Hee hee hee you said spooge and got away with it! You pull crap like that and it has to be brought up. If I have one purpose in life it is to perpetuate the career of Chris Gaines. I'm thinking a Chris Gaines single (on cassette tape) might have to be a white elephant Christmas gift next year ... Did not know about the Pillsbury Cowboy!!! Ohhh boy! |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! Muskrat37 - 2012-12-26 7:05 PM I need way more time in my day, or the ability to move at twice the speed I currently move at. This is my crazy Christmas schedule... Worked Monday - supposed to drive to Portland @ noon with my brother. I finished work @ 10:30 - he got screwed with extra work so I went and helped him finish his job (we work at the same company)..
Made it to Portland at around 8:00 - my son got to play with his cousins until 9:00 then it was off to bed
Drive my son to his mothers at 10:00 a.m. - spend Christmas with my sister - eat dinner - leaver her place @ 8:15 p.m.
I get done with work @ 2:30 - do my grocery shopping - put all the groceries away, and clean the kitchen. My friend is flying in tomorrow - so I still have to vacuum, clean the bathrooms, and change the bedding on the spare bed (hopefully she'll just choose to sleep in my bed)... on top of all that I STILL HAVE TO RUN 8 FRICKING MILES... (I'm actually looking forward to it, just don't know how I'm going to fit it in) I have to wake up early again tomorrow so I can call in sick since my boss wouldn't give me the day off to pick up my friend from the airport. (screw him - he's a jerk anyways). The good news is, I get to go back to sleep for an hour after calling in sick, then I'm going to pick up my friend from the airport. Hopefully things will settle down... I need a break. Done whining. Time to HTFU and clean, eat and run. Goodnight Fellow pod mates.... If I miss the next 5 pages of this thread, please don't hold it against me. That is quite the schedule you have there! Sheeeesh!!!! Ahhh having to wake up early to call in sick, nice! Hahaha Hey, BTW I grew up in Port Orchard and my brother actually went to Gig Harbor High School. |

I have always been REALLY sensitive to cigarette smoke (notice how specific I am being) my parents both smoked cigarettes when I was young and we got in HUGE fights over it. My sister quite cold turkey no problem for both of her pregnancies but always goes back. Come to think of it ... I am the only one in my family that doesn't smoke cigarettes. Not even one when I am having a beer (that's my brother.) |

JJ- - 2012-12-27 3:55 PM Richardsdrr - 2012-12-27 11:25 AM JJ- - 2012-12-27 2:52 PM I use trainer road coupled with sufferfest, or I use YouTube clips of rides. This guy has a nice list going... http://roadtoironmandaddy.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/kona-ironman-video... "lovely rides" section is what I tend to gravitate toward. Also, do a search on YouTube for ironman tv, lots (10 I think) of videos of all the different ironman events. What do y'all watch or do to pass the time on the trainer? It gets so boring. I watched the 2011 Ironman World Championship DVD this morning but I can only watch it so many times. Need something else
I thought about making a youtube playlist of Tri videos
These videos are great. I never knew they were free on youtube. Where is the lovely rides section of his site you were referring too? Scroll down below all the past Ironman race videos and you will see the lovely rides section. I'm already contemplating watching one of these tonight! |

Thanks for those motivational videos, you can never have to many of those on trainer. For my part I do Trainer Road and watch Dr. Who on Netflix streaming. I set it up so that I can only watch a Dr. Who episode while I am biking, therefore I need to keep biking Only on the first season but it's good motivation to get back on it.
I signed up for a Jan 1st 10k to keep my drinking in check and a Half Marathon the day before St. Patties day. It is my first 10k race but I'm sure it will be cold and fun. Yanti, I saw this when I was in Lovina and some guy told us that drugs in Indonesia was bad juju. As in like death penalty, is that true? Always entertaining, I will see if I can scrounge up a few of my photos. Going from Washington State to Indonesia might be a bit of a drug culture shock haha. |

Ehhhh I think I know what I'm getting myself into. I deal with quite a few different cultures at work on a daily basis. Also I have traveled a fair amount. Here is a shirt I saw in Japan, I believe it to be very relevant to our conversation

Veteran 416 Cleveland, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! So, I got off my butt this morning did 40mjn on the trainer. Went to the dentist and decided it was a great day to go enjoy the outdoors. Decided to go do some cross-country skiing. I am still learning so it was a blast. I went down a new trail I want to go get some pictures of. 1.5hrs after starting I was back at my start point, 4.92 miles. It was also warm on the mountain 10F. I still have Insanity to do tonight but was great to get outside and enjoy nature while the sun was up. Jonathan |
