2.7 today, stuck a little tempo in for today. After each half mile I upped the tempo for 1/10th of a mile. It was very different turning up the cadence but I liked it and think I will add this in once a week.

Mary, when I see your miles it makes me happy.  I am still amazed at how far you've come, and how completely you have changed your life.  You inspire me.   You're just awesome.

----

5.5 purpose: recovery.  I haven't done anything hard in a while now, but my legs are just feeling crappy, so I'm keeping it easy.

First of all, thank you for asking. You are so sweet. Seriously, you are positively impacting BT in a really unique way. As for the course, it was a 6k course tgat consisted of three loops, all slightly different. The terrain was packed dirt/gravel, grass and some mud. It had lots of ups and downs and twists and turns, much like a trail run course. But what was super cool was how many people there were. While a trail race is more about solidarity, this was nuts! In addition to the mental strain of constantly searching for footing on the trail you had to continually jostle for position. There were 16 colleges so it was quite competitive. Coaches were yelling strategy and splits, cheerleaders were out, crazy parents etc. finally the team aspect is super cool, what you do matters and you are accountable to the rest of your team.

My run for today: 13.11 miles. The marathon schedule called for 10, but I didn't think it was a good idea to dial it back that far and then go 20 next week so I added 3. Probably could have added more, but I also didn't want to deviate from the plan that much.

Purpose: Endurance and social since I ran with the running group I signed up for 6 weeks ago. It was good to have company for the first 7.

That means a lot to me, Salty.  Thanks:)

I think I should go and watch one of these.  They sound like a hoot. I don't even know if they have XC races for adults around here, but now I'm intrigued.  I can definitely go watch the highschool and uni teams though.  It sounds like there would be quite a bit to distract (I'm not sure if this is the right word) you from the pain of the running.  The team aspect sounds cool--that would be super motivating.

So when is your next one?

Great job! That is the sound of me popping the top of a cold Yuengling to celebrate your run and I got my acceptance email to the Boston marathon next year. I am in!

I also ran 13.1 miles today, purpose long run. Next Saturday is the Air Force Marathon.

3 miles today in warming and racing for a Sprint tri.  Mainly did the race for fun and to test my new tri suit (Pearl Izumi Octane).  I love this suit!

Edit:  Yes I understand the irony of posting a bike picture in a running thread.

Wow, great job everyone!!!!! Congrats to Azelweld on the XC race, Popsracer for the huge PR, navbtcret for getting into Boston, Msteiner on his tri, Lynn on her run, and Chunga for doing that 9 mile run. Sounds like it was a great day for so many people. This is a very inspiring thread.

5.3 miles in morn and 5.2 miles in the afternoon heat. Will be going out again but it will be around midnight so I'll record it tomorrow. Purpose: Find my pacing and find out how I'll react with tired legs at Ragnar. Doing the mileage broken into separate runs instead of one long run - well, it's different.

well, you'd go about it like I do. Either run with a club or unattached in college meets. It's ok, MILFs are more than welcome. I had one on my team at pace booty through lap 2 My next meet is in October.

3.2. Purpose: 3rd leg in less than 24 hours. Midnight runs are a lot different even from my 4am runs. And the same ole tried and true routes look very different with a weak headlight.
