Pro 6520 Bellingham, WA | Subject: RE: September Running Challenge! Lots of great running this weekend folks. Switch, glad to hear you're feeling better but still be careful. I hear over and over on these types of injuries how they just start feeling better and then push it just a tiny bit too hard and bam. Test it slowly and cautiously. Well, I wasn't going to run today but after an hour on my trainer I thought I'd get outside for an easy 3.5 mile active recovery run. It is windy out with leaves blowing everywhere. Too good to miss out on. And, yes, the Hawks rock!!!!!!!!!! |

I decided to check out a group that runs on Sunday morning from a park near where I work. I hooked up with them. It was a small group and We had some nice conversation. The time really passed quickly and I ran 13 miles!!!!! 3 miles more than my previous longest run!! That was a great run! They run every Sunday, 10 plus miles, I think I have some new Sunday morning plans! Mary
That's great, Mary. I've run with a group and on my own and both have their advantages. Definitely an advantage of a group, as long as they have people your pace, is the conversation and having time pass faster. Great job on 13 miles! Woo-Hoo!! |

I'm glad you said that because I should get up with a group here. I used to run with a Monday night group and got out the habit when son's baseball schedule was always conflicting. But I need to get back with them. Thanks for the reminder. Thanks for the kind words. Nothing is broken and I'm moving around fine. All of the scraps hurt but I'll live. Pride is hurt more than the hands and knees. BTW, the Ragnar leader asked our group to give him our top 3 choices for legs to run. This part is interesting to me because I like to see people's logic for choosing their legs. Ideally I would like a least one hard and one moderate. I didn't list any of the very hard legs as my top choices because I didn't want the team's time to suffer since I'm not one of the fastest and I'm not from the mountains. But I told him I was open to take one of the very hard legs if the team was ok with it. Can't wait to see how it shakes out. I'm really fine with any of the legs except one set because it's all easy runs; that may be my speed but I want more of a challenge.
Sounds like a good plan for Ragnar. I used to want to do one, but reading about all your different time of day runs I might not be so up for it. You're going to be VERY ready though. |

Seattle | Subject: RE: September Running Challenge! Originally posted by lmscozz Oh you don't have to run at different times for training in order to have a successful Ragnar, Lynn. I sure as heck never did and neither did my teammates. Like most things in training, it's personal preference. Those difficulty ratings usually have a lot of variables (length, elevation gain etc) usually a runner (say, runner 3 for example) with have a variety of types of runs to keep things balanced. Something I may suggest is to look on the map and see if there is an area you would like to see/run through.Originally posted by Pink Socks Originally posted by Chunga Today's plan was 11 miles for my long run, base building. Extreme Veteran 1222 Tallahassee, Florida | Subject: RE: September Running Challenge! 1.65 miles. Purpose: Easy and see if I could move after the fall yesterday. All was ok but digestive issue brought me in early. Right shoulder is hurting so I had to focus on not tensing up and relaxing. Lynn, yes, Adrienne is correct that you don't have to do the runs at different times like that. But my first triple went well so I wanted to simulate as much as possible next. I'm just weird that way. Matt, how did you brother do in Augusta? Switch, glad you can run again! I have LOVED this challenge!!!!!! Met nice people, learned a lot about running, and stayed on target with my training. Total of 131.2 miles for the month for me. Thanks! Edited by Pink Socks 2013-09-30 5:06 AM |
