evondo - 2010-04-13 5:41 AM Congrats to all the racers over the weekend! I don't have time to write up a full wedding RR but we had a great time and of course it all goes by too quickly.  There was nothing in the ceremony/reception that upset Betsy of I so I think that counts as everything went well Some highlights...

Spend 1.5 days setting up the venue w/brother and family
Shots with the family at rehearsal dinner led to...
Unplanned party after rehearsal dinner lasting until 3-3:30am (8 people + 90 beers in 1.5hrs = 1 trashed hotel room and sick people)
I get sick at Chilis in front of people eating their lunch who I did not know on wedding day (I was 100% by the time ceremony came around thankfully!
Got married, Betsy looked amazing (as always)
My boss got attacked by a squirrel at the reception and had scratches on his face from the attack
Rest of the night is a little blurry but everything was great and I'm very glad we got a videographer so we can look back and see what all went on when our backs were turned

Sounds like a good time, minus the sickness part (and eating at Chili's, that's just wrong).  I find it hilarious that your boss got attached by a squirrel.

EvD & (officially now) BvD.... Congratulations!  Y'all look great - big smiles!

That's some funny frickin' stuff!  puking, squirrel attacks, and John's pre-race routine of 90 beers... Good stuff! Sounds like one heck of a weekend... ala 'Hangover' style! HA!

Time to regroup and get your mind right for a wonderful (stress free - no puking, squirrels, etc...) Honeymoon!  Enjoy y'all!

Apparently the squirrel jumped from roof, to tree, to Todd's head and then the ground. It never missed a beat. This was posted on his facebook wall once people at work got word...

Totally awesome wedding. Beer drinking, Shot slamming, all night drunk fest ending in public vomiting at a food establishment no less, with a squirrel mauling. Didnt anyone bring a tranq gun? Doesnt Betsy have some back woods ragin cajun family from LA that would have cooked that booger up in a nice stew?

That is from one of two things.

A.) Possible reliving the Chilis incident infront of even more people and on camera
B.) Anticipation of Wedding night

Yeah I know I have been MIA all weekend and Monday. Took the twins to a Rangers game on Saturday. We got there early and got a bp HR ball. I got in my first OWS on the year and already changing wetsuits. I will be going sleeveless. New one ordered and on the way. Wasnt feeling the best Sunday and Monday so no real training to speak of. I feel like a super slacker.

So on the way to swim I had to make a pit stop at whataburger. I guess the lights are motion sensored and on a short timer. I am in the larger sitting area with the door closed such that the sensor doesnt pick up and the light go out. I am waving my arms in pitch blackness. Using my keen thinking skills I remember 3 rolls of tp sitting on the hand rail next to me. Lets just say throwing a roll of tp over the top of the door that is about 4 ft away in total darkness is a skill. I nailed the 2nd shot and got the lights back on.

Sorry, group...I just have to vent. I posted this in my TL, but I'm still fuming. Read or skip as you wish.
YellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYell

Sometimes I wonder if this is all worth it. Two of the last  three workouts having to deal with disrespectful and inconsiderate people...the biggest problem is that the problem today was mainly the "adults" causing problems.

First off, I love the pool we swim at, even having to drive 45 minutes each way 2 or 3 times a week. Luckily we've gained a pretty good rapport with the pool manager...which came in very handy today. Unfortunately, the youth summer swim team has a bunch of jerks in charge and think they own the pool.

Today we had a short set...1750. We started at 4:00 when the pool opened and the swim team starts their practice at 4:30. As I am finishing my last set of intervals, the swim team is pulling out another lane rope and putting in another lane. We have been told by the pool manager that the team uses 3 lanes. No big deal, so I always take the 4th lane and Nik typically swims on the outside of my lane in the open pool space (and sometimes we will ask to add a lane if the open pool has a few people in it...today, there was nobody else there when the pool opened, so we didn't bother).

Ultimately, as I am about to start my last 50 before cool down, they ask us to move over...I couldn't really hear the conversation because my ears are clogged up and I don't pay attention anyway. I loathe being interrupted in the middle of a workout. Nik told them that we had 250 left and she thought they said ok.

So I start my 200 cooldown and I made the turn after 100 and am approaching the wall for 125... ***BAM*** my left wrist whops a kid...WHO IS IN MY LANE. I stop, stand up and look around...apparently the "coaches" threw a bucket of kids in my lane. I was surrounded...never having been informed there were additions to my lane.

So I get out of the pool at that moment to go talk to the manager. As I am walking to the office a "parent" follows me up there and starts to try to rip me in front of the manager...saying that "they were nice to even put in a lane for us and didn't have to do that"...to which the manager replied, "Oh no, we always put lanes up..." The parent was trying to start crap with me but luckily the manager wasn't going to deal with it. She basically told the woman that we are training, too, and have the right to our lanes. The manager then went to the coaches and told them that would never happen again. She also went so far as to call the pool director and the pool director agreed that we had the right to our lanes.

I am appreciative of their efforts...but still annoyed because it shouldn't be this difficult to get a workout in and I should never have to fight for a lane I've already been using for 30+ minutes...especially when the swim team is only supposed to have 3 lanes in the first place. This is definitely testing me mentally. I know the difference in 75 yards isn't going to make or break me in the HIM, but common courtesy people...

Nice!  We used to attempt to have <$100 bike damage and <ER trip when the Navy buddies and I went Mountain bike riding in Virginia.  We didn't accomplish that goal very often.  It not but a flesh wound.  Hope your friend is fine.  I have a scar that might compare to this one when healed up from the fresh non-skid in the hanger bay of my aircraft carrier.  While playing basketball I ended up flying through the air and hitting the elbow first as I crashed to the deck. I'm not sure why elbows bleed so much but I lost a bunch of blood that day.

Off to swim - because it's on my schedule and I want everyone to be safe.

HAPPY HUMP DAY EVERYONE!

So far, so good.  I had a decent swim for a change (thanks Eric for suggesting the fins).  I weigh 186lbs which is lower than I have been in 10 years. My father in-law is coming in town today after getting a free ticket to the Masters (He is in a great mood) and Brendan has band UIL which I am going to see by working from the house and taking off around lunch time.  Today has great possibilities.

Tiffany sorry about the troubles at the pool.  It's great that the people who manage the pool set them straight.  I get that too but from really old people.  My pool has water aerobics right after I swim and the people (mostly old) start to come into the lanes while people are still swimming laps and start stretching and bobbing up and down 10 min before the class starts.  Usually the life guard kicks them out but most of the time i just use it as open water practice and when I swim past one, I kick extra hard..
