scottgreenstone - 2010-05-27 4:00 PM Dreamchaser - its good that you are eating healthy foods mixed in with the processed stuff Tongue out

Question, if Gartorade is out, who is watching our gear after checkin Saturday? All the information stated that representatives from Gatorade will be on hand to watch our gear? Should I bring a bike lock now?

Check in is different than Gatorade swim. Once you check in your stuff it is in transition and that will be guarded.

They encourage you not to swim prior to the event. Someone at IMFL sued them over something that happened at the Gatorade swim so it was eliminated for future events. Most all if not all, the IM branded events thus far in 2010 in updated athlete guide talks about no swims prior to the event.

One race recently told folks if they swam at the venue prior to the race you'd get DQed.

I'm feeling pretty good.

With my knee issues on and off again, was getting worried at the beginning of the month.  Lots of PT focus and seems to have gotten me back on track.

Swimming is coming along great, biking is pretty solid, and even my run is starting to look good again.

I just might pull this off after all!

PennState - 2010-05-28 7:22 AM squeezed in a sweet little ride this am. Pretty happy with my biking these days. How are you all feeling about your swim, bike run these days?

I'm feeling pretty good.  I'm running without pain, biking is good, and I seem to have gotten a bit faster swimming.  I'm very happy with where I'm at considering I missed so much time.

Errrrr....so does this mean there's no swim before the race? Or just "no one on hand to watch your stuff"?

Got the E-mail about the case. I'm interested to try it, but annoyed that at this point, I've been training with GE and know exactly how I like it mixed, AND how it interacts with Fig Newman's. SIGH. Why do they do this right before peak training weeks? Annoying...

i don't think it matters at all.  Dev's write up on ST was spot on....people cramp up due to pacing, not what brand of drink they are using.....sure, there are outliers, but the majority of us could drink whatever is on the course no problem.

though i will surely use powerbar perform in training (we have to use something in training, why not whats on the course a few times?!)

This is the classic "don't worry about things you cannot control" situation.

Cant control what is served, cant control gatorade swim, cant control any of it.

That's a spot on observation as well.  If we only could all realize and humbly accept that we are not in control of 99.99% of what goes on around us, there'd be a lot more peace and serenity in the world.  I know I cannot control this hunger lately!!

"As a Ford Ironman Lake Placid athlete, we are offering you a complimentary case of the new Ironman PERFORM sports drink to utilize during training. It should be arriving at your home by June 11. We want you to begin using this product in preparation for race day and would also like to offer you an exclusive discount, beginning June 8, available at both www.PowerBar.com and www.ShopIronman.com for purchase of additional product."

My wife made an excellent observation. It is a huge perk that we get for the $550 entry fee. I knew she was going to say that since she hasn't let me forget how much this thing is costing. If she only knew the real cost

PennState - 2010-05-28 5:04 PM Hey what do you think is worse? 1. Heat and humidity on race day? or 2. Monsoon on race day?

Not fueling properly and bonking.  Cause that is something that you can control.  Weather you cannot control.  But if I had to pick on or the other -- I would pic monsoon.  I melt in the heat.

Have to agree, did them both also. Nutrition last year did me in on my run until the very end, but I'll take monsoon over heat/humidity anyday. Went out this week on purpose for bike and run in 90+ heat just to convince myself that I can handle it. Have always been intimidated by heat. Trying not to let it get to me anymore. Easier said then done.

For me heat and humidity is much harder than rain.

Miss nutrition and I am screwed.
