tahrens - 2012-08-27 12:24 PM Someone talk me down.  I have a very twitchy finger over the IM Louisville registration button!!!!

Awesome.  Suzy can drive the fan club van.  She can pick up Melissa in Chicago, Me in Northern Indiana, and Julia in Central Indiana.  We'll come cheer you on!!!

David, I'd be glad to be part of your fan club for Ironman Australia.....just send me a couple of tickets Laughing

Trevor, while tracking you, I was reading Kyla's race report from her first IM.  She knows all about puking on the run.  Way to negative split the run and get that sub 13.

This all sounds like so much fun, I can't wait to do one--before I'm 50.  I have 3.5 more years to get it done.

Yo!  It's early, but it's Wednesday!  Who's taking the opportunity to make us proud?  If you're racing, spill the details!

If you're not racing, let's talk about races other than M dot.  Are you considering one for 70.3 or 140.6? HITS? REV?  Challenge? why or why not?

Plays well into the Ragnar theme... Ragnar was a Norse hero.

No racing here. No plans for big races next year. But if I did a 70.3 I'd be all over REV3 again. I totally loved that. I really want to do REV3 Maine... Lobster at the finish and a bottle opener medal!! I told Dave -- he thought it would be a whole lot easier to take me out for a lobster dinner and buy me a bottle opener, ha ha! Smart man I married, that one!!

as i'm finishing up my run at lunch some heavy set lady lets her dog throw down a deuce right on the trail next to garbage cans with dogdoo bags.  she starts to walk away so i kindly say ma'am, there are bags here if you need them to keep the trail clean.  she says why don't you come over here and shove my dog's sh+t up your a$$.  i said "i've got a better idea.  why do you keep walking and try to get rid of a lot of that fat.  then you'll be able to bend over and pick up your dog's sh+t"  she went berserk.  it was soooo funny!!!!

i smiled and walked away.

Observation over the past 3-4 years in this MG:

Crazy (read-hilarious) stuff seems to happen around pre-IM peeps at a much higher rate of frequency.

oh, and NICE FLIP, Birdy!!!!!

I'm up to bat this weekend.  I'm doing an OLY.  I'm feeling a little undertrained, but a lot more confident in my ability compared to last year.  Hoping to perform a bit better on the swim, maybe a little slower on the bike, but my goal is to have a consistent (read--in control) run.  If I can do all that, I should be able to take some significant time off.

I would like to do an Ironman logo race at least once-- just so I can wear the "stuff" and feel like I earned it.  After that, anything goes.  At that point, I'll pick my races for the "fun" factor.  Laughing

John, yes I'm "that" old and I love it.  I have a built-in excuse for everything.  Well, until I read about someone like THIS!!  Wow!!!  I have a new hero.

Hilarious!! Does she really think it is ok to crap up the trail and then be pissed at someone who wants them to be responsible? That was a great comeback John!

No racing here this weekend, but I DO want to do a 70.3, Beach to Battleship in North Carolina.

No racing here, my current mission is to get my ankle tendinitis to heal... Just swimming and cycling for 2 weeks and lots of self massage, ice, foam rolling.

As far as the M dot thing goes, I think for your first IM doing an M Dot event seems quite important, just so you can really say you've done an Ironman rather than a long course triathlon. For a 70.3 I'd actually prefer a non M Dot event, sort of so you don't have to explain to people that you did an Ironman but not a full ironman... Seems stupid but avoids explaining yourself to people at work. Once that first IM is done then I'd be happy to race whichever event looked good regardless of who's organizing it.

Paul and I are off to Minocqua to kick off the Labor Day weekend!  Hope you all enjoy the last bits of Summer.

Did my final full ride of the loop today and a little brick run post and it went well! One more key workout to go.

Pretty much what Jayne said re: Oly and undertrained.  I have an appointment with a PT tomorrow afternoon to check out my foot.  I started developing a lot of pain in my heel so I quit running on it about 2 weeks ago and not running is driving me crazy.  I enjoy swimming and biking, but not nearly as much as running.  I feel out of shape and in no way prepared to have a solid race.  But I guess at this point, I'm really just hoping the PT says it's ok for me to do the race.  Then I'll figure out how to get through it.

Bad day here, 5 Aussie soldiers killed in Afghanistan, I know it's not much compared to the US casualties but for a country of only 20 million it's a significant loss.
