Expert 790![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Great race and great job not letting the flat get you down. It was nice to see you prior to the swim. It's always nice to see a familiar face in a sea of nervous strangers. It's almost as if seeing people you know reassures you that you "belong" there. roadrhino - 2010-04-26 11:43 AM The dirty details of a very tough day...although I can at least say on my worst day, I still conquered 70.3! http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=205209 |

Extreme Veteran 521![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Fatty, you were right in front of me heading to the finish chute as I was peeling off for my final loop. I wanted to catch you and give you a nod but I was conserving as much juice as I could for my final stretch down the chute. But I did get to see your traditional finish line pose...nice job! I also saw your wife finish on Saturday...no doubt who she got her ham-it-up skills from. Hate to hear of Justin's misfortune with the illness...that is disappointing. Hoping for a quick recovery to get back in the mix for the upcoming season. fattyfatfat - 2010-04-26 2:20 PM great job out there yesterday gang! justin man, you freakin' crushed it brother! very very proud of you!!!!! not sure if the word got out here yet, but tryin2bslow got the flu or something and didn't make the race. incredibly disappointing to say the least. as much sh+t as i talk i was really looking forward to seeing him out there on the run yesterday. i spoke with him briefly last night. 101 temp, achy, finally able to hold some food down. hopefully he's on the way to speedy recovery. |

We looked for you girls ALL day, next time we definitely need to make a mental note of what you are wearing. We never saw Tiff and didn't see Nikki until late in the run course. Volunteering was awesome! It was great to see a lot of BTers out there! |

Veteran 204![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!I want to thank everyone for all of the post over the last 12 weeks and the last few days. Everyone has given great encouragement. This was for sure the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life as an athlete. I am very proud to say that I finished a 70.3. I do have a question though. I have experienced the calf cramping issue in training before and now during the race. This is a new issue this season and one I did not have at all last year. I did stretch before the race and I tried to keep my feet relaxed during the swim, but this did not keep the cramps from developing during the race. Does any one have any suggestions on how to deal with this issue and keep it from happening in the future? Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Hey gang... I am back to work today (feeling better - yet shy of 100%) and I just wanted to say a collective thanks for the inspires... Sunday was something I won't get behind me soon enough. I hope none of you ever have to experience that kind of disappointment, anger, etc... There are so many things we CAN'T control... and Mr. Murphy proved that to me on Sunday for sure! ON THE POSITIVE SIDE... Congratulations to JustinP, John, Nik, Tif, & many of the members of SWBKRUN's MG that came form out of town to race... from what I have heard, it was a tough course and everyone did an awesome job getting through the day. JustinP - competition aside... man that is an awesome time (especially for your first go at this distance) My hat is off to you! You trained well, you raced well and finished very strong! I am sure you will only continue to improve and I will be hard press to keep up with ya! Great Job! John - Stay positive brother... continue with your training, but keep it fun! Don't focus on the end result... focus on the journey! Texas is gonna miss not having your sorry yankee, aggie, ex-navy officer a$$ around when you head east! |

Extreme Veteran 521![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!I echo all of the sentiments of the Galveston 70.3 crew...thanks to everyone here for all of the encouragement, laughs, inspires, and advice. This is a great community to be a part of. So nice to have an extended family at the race...John, Justin x2, Keri, Ken...so much more safe feeling than the very first tri I did less than a year ago knowing nobody else racing that day. Still feeling sore today and didn't sleep well last night. Then this morning I went to breakfast with a co-worker and suddenly felt dizzy and cold. Uh-oh...came back to school and went to the nurse...turns out my blood pressure is elevated... 133/92. So I relaxed on one of the cots and started hydrating like crazy. Still not feeling great at all and the nurse is trying to get me to go home. It's an easy day for me though, so I'm trying not to use a day if at all possible. Unfortunately I won't be able to do the planned super easy swim today...but it is time to listen to the body and get some more R&R. |

What the he77 is JustinP, what happened to Justin(e)? Maybe Justin Case decided to drop the Justine the same day I did. Justine doesn't quite have the respect that you deserve. I will wait till I beat you in a race to hit you with the Justine again. (It may be completely retired from me). Other than our weekend bike battles, Bridgeland will be the next shot to earn your name back. I don't plan on renting a motor boat for the swim or race wheels for the bike so I wouldn't panic. (I will be training with power so the bike split is in jeopardy). See ya at the Bike Barn Saturday - I bailed on my MS150 ride in Dallas in an effort to get more OWS in. Heading to 288 after the bike ride Saturday. 150 miles in DFW on the bike won't get me 300m in the Baytown pond of a swim on May23rd. Ironic - I am trying to beat "the man with no shirt" (Ron) at the Eastside Tri and "the man with no hair" at Bridgeland. |

Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Spent today dealing with food poisoning. So not fun. It really sucks when your starved and yet cannot keep food down so you can't do anything about it. I'm on a steady diet of Ginger ale and Saltines. As long as I eat them slow enough it seems to be settling fine now. Doubt I'll be training tomorrow but hope to be eating at least some solid foods |

I was expecting to feel a lull after the HIM, but it is the opposite. I can't wait to start training again. I'm actually forcing myself to take a few days off, but in the mean time I've already started to look at the race for next year. I've already started to break down the times, to see what I have to do now in order to reach my goals next year. |
