Expert 1023 , | Subject: RE: Scrambled Legs Hey everyone, looks like we're all doing really well! I have only 6.5 miles left to meet my goal, so I'll beat it by a few miles. I have my first race of the year tomorrow; one of my local runner's club Winter series of 5K's. I've been running pretty well lately so I'm psyched. Only about 150 runners, but pretty competitive. If I run 25 minutes like I hope I'll be MOP overall, and BOP in my age group. The winner will probably be under 16 minutes. Keep up the good work, everyone, and have fun! Anthony

Extreme Veteran 301 Charlotte, North Carolina | Subject: RE: Scrambled Legs ldatug - 2008-01-25 11:11 PM I ran the furthest I have ever run tonight (3.714 miles). My long runs on the training program really are getting long now. I had to do 32 minutes tonight. DON'T WORRY ABOUT MY TOTAL. I WILL MEET MY GOAL. I'm right on schedule, anyway. If you look at my monthly totals, I'm new at this, and 33 miles was a really tough goal for me. But, I'm on track, and I will finish! Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Rock on Laura! That is aesome!!! You are doing a great job!!! We know you will knock that goal down!!! |

Champion 5868 Urbandale, IA | Subject: RE: Scrambled Legs I logged another 3.5 today which officially puts me over my goal. Unfortunately, I had to walk everything I did this week (not sure if that should be a disqualifier) because I broke my arm on Tuesday morning. I am at 117% and will probably be done until I see the doc again (2/4) for further eval -- but I didn't want to let everyonedown and just stop. |

As for "letting everyone down," well, it's more important that you don't injure your arm further! Good luck at the doc next month! Hopefully, you'll be well on your way to recovery by then. Dee |

I am pretty sure given that you have broken your arm and STILL got out there and completed that goal we can count it as part of your run... Ok Team.... If JD can do it with a broken arm, what excuse could we possibly have? Let's rock this week and finish strong!!! |

Yeah, you have a point.. Guess I need to qualify cold.... Well, here in Charlotte, I define cold as 38 degrees with wind... Then there was the wind from all of the cars of folks headed to church and finding the need to wave at me as I ran... Good strength training by constantly waving at cars though! LOL!!!!

I will plan to get another 4 in on Tuesday to push me over. I know that 60 is something that some people put in over a week or two, but I'm super proud. This challenge really helped motivate me to put the miles in during the week. Thanks guys! |

Someone in the group is REALLY SERIOUS about this challenge. I like it! Wx is finally warmer and expect to hit 120% of this months goal. This challenge really helped w/my winter training. Go Team Scrambled Legs! |

CONGRATULATIONS to Who's Your Marmadaddy? This is the THIRD week in a row that they've had the top ranking! BUT remember that the challenge isn't over yet! Some of the teams are really close. January is now 87.1% completed. This is the FINAL WEEK of the challenge, so RUN, BIKE, SWIM! There's still time to help your team achieve that #1 ranking! I have only 1.5 miles to go to meet my goal, and I have 2 more runs of 3 or 4 miles scheduled, but I will try to bump them up to 5 or 6 miles, even though it means I'll be running by some woods where a couple of bears have been spotted, and I'll have to start earlier when it will be really dark To JD: It stinks that you broke your arm. Great job getting out there even with an injury. How'd it happen? To 1for1: Good running, but 38 degrees is just about t-shirt and shorts weather To atlrunnergirl: 17 miles? All I can say is WOW A while back, ambulancedriver mentioned something about hoping to find running fun, and there have been a few threads on "triathlon talk" about having fun while training. I just wanted to mention that when I first started running about 6 years ago, it wasn't always a good time, but now that I've been at it awhile, and run consistently, I always have a really good time. I even find myself smiling frequently for no particular reason while I'm running. So everyone, keep up the good running, get out there, and HAVE SOME FUN! Anthony

Uhm, isn't that called motivation for intervals??? LOL Really though, stay safe, you are striking that goal with a solid ring, keep yourself safe. Rock on Anthony for the inspiration. Knowing you are running in the temps you are, John getting out there with a broken arm, Kameron working it with the ankle... You ALL are an inspiration to me. Has been a lot of fun and an honor to be the Team Lead for this one.. Even if I felt you guys were leading me more... THIS IS WHY I LOVE CHALLENGES... Veteran 228 Greenbelt, MD | Subject: RE: Scrambled Legs Heya guys...well I'm looking good to finish up with at least 100%, although I think I'm going to try to squeeze an extra run in on Wednesday to up my percentage more. I doubt I'll get to 120% as much as I'd love to since that would mean tacking an extra mile on to each workout (and besides doing 3 workouts in 3 days as I'm going to have to do is way extra since I usually do runs every other day). But since I decided to run in shorter bits (run 1 min, walk 1 min until I finish the number of minutes I'm supposed to run), I've been recoverying easier (and slightly enjoying running too!) so I think I should be able to do it. Wish me luck that the rain holds off tomorrow so I can get outside and not be tortured with the treadmill. Thanks everyone for the motivation. There have been so many days this month I've totally wanted to bag running and yet I've gotten it done (although I've bagged a few more runs than I wouls have liked). Let's finish the month strong and at the very least catch up some to Marmadaddy's fan club! |
