I'll see how the next weigh in goes, I may have to scale back the goal of 10 pounds lost in March to 5 pounds. Hopefully next week I'll see better results!!

I know we have all been conditioned by "THE SCALE", but as some of you have found your body is changing and it takes a while for the scale to catch up.



And apparently, you've been loading up on the raspberries, too!

I think I had a wee success last night. I came back from work and I found a whole box (about 300g or so ) of my favourite cookies: Digestives with chocolate. Normally I 'd eat all the cookies followed by dinner but last night I had only 4 and then I didn't even finish my dinner. Ok I only left a small bit on the plate but I think it's good already. Also when I was opening the cookies I didn't really want them - it was more like the habit: these are your favourite ones you have to eat them. And after the last cookie I thought that they didn't taste as good as I remembered- could that mean I'm nearly free from my chococholism???

Also one good thing came out of me being so sick at the wedding last weekend: I didin't smoke!! And I was afraid it could happen- saved by the flu


I faltered last night. I had a really bad day personally and I smoked 4 cigarettes. I blew 56 days of hard work. And I drank too much, too. And now I'm frustrated that I have let my sucky life get in the way of what I'm trying to do to change.

On a more positive note, I did meet someone at work yesterday who is training for a sprint. I don't know him that well, but he seems nice and I might have the opportunity to do a little training with him.

I was just teasin you, saling. You're doing great! I think maintenance is just as tough as the weight loss itself. Back away from the PB cookies though, you know they're evil

I have a general question.... If anybody knows or has insight... How do we know that our metabolism has kicked in? Generally, you might think, I'm losing weight, I must be burning cal more than usual. But what if the scale is so spastic that no discernable weight loss is noticed over time? And how can we know without out finding out what our lean body mass index is before and/or after? ( personally I don't have the money to go get tested every couple of wks/months). So if all we have is a scale ( that doesn't show BF %) and our workouts, how do we know if our metabolism has kicked in? One idea I've been toying with is increased appetite. But is this because of diet restrictions? ( eating certain foods vs. eating at specific times) Because I would have thought that over time the body would become used to eating those 5-6 meals a day and the constant hungar would subside due to a conditioned response, "It's time to eat!" I find I'm hungry all day long, and next to pain, it's one of the worst feelings ever. True torture sometimes.

I went shopping for those illusive skinny jeans today! I found some, but I didn't buy them. They were still too snug for my taste. I don't like baggy jeans either, it's just I'm in a transitional phase I guess. So I bought the same size I usually do ( between 36x30 's and 34x32's) ( 2 pair). I tried on I think 12 pair, and the 33x30's would have cut off my manhood in about 2 hrs time, that or I would have passed out (decreased blood flow). But I did notice that the normal 36x30's were getting really baggy for my taste, so I've digressed to wearing a belt.

It's o.k. I mean it definately sucks being pulled back into the clutches of nicotine, but it's o.k. You can always start the new day smoke free! Were you chewing the gum at all? That's what really helped me, gum and something to chew, I chose almonds ( roasted, n/salt). Now, if I could just get off this damn gum... One other thing don't let a hiccup ruin your training, get right back to the gym or whatever it is you do, and do it like you haven't missed a step!!!!!!!!! Make a new goal too! Along side the 'No Smoking'. This way you can run the goals side by side and the success in one should allow you to want/gain/achieve the other.
