2 weeks into Iron Fit program, did 3000 m swim today, 50 mile ride on Wed and a 14 mile run on Mon. Not exactly like the plan calls for, but I was never any good at following plans, rules or any other structure. But it felt great just going long this week. Back to the plan next week, maybe.  Jim

Wow that is great. Way ahead of where I am at. I have been doing some 2 hour trainer rides on the weekend and am up to about 6 or so miles on the treadmill. Swimming is going well but I have not been spending as much time on that as I should. Can't wait for the nice weather to get here. This sucks!

We had an unusual warm spell this week and after sub 30 degree temps, I was not going to let it pass without taking advantage. It looks like next week it's back to 30-40 degree wx. Spring can't come soon enough.

David tri's - 2009-02-13 12:19 PM Max Longree, 2008 winner had a HUGE cheeseburger from the Hard Rock Cafe waiting for him at the finish. It was served on a pristine white plate by an attractive HRC waitress. I'd like one of those.

You sure you'll be up for that?!

~Mike

Probably not the burger, maybe later that night.

Rough couple of days here. First I was sick for about 3 days and then my daughter got sick. Going to work tomorrow though and hope to get in a couple workouts there. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Wow, how differently we look at temps, it gets above freezin here in Michigan and we are outside on our bikes, heck even in the 20's can be a nice day Laughing

In the past 2 weeks, we've had several days in the 60's.  Nice riding in shorts and just a jersey. Money mouth

I've seen a couple of other people comment on this before but what is up with the "Official Website?"  It's the biggest POS... I know that the website is a minor part of everything but it would be nice to have at least some current information on it.  It is by far the weakest of all the IM websites that I've seen out there.  Anyone agree?

Was it like this last year as well... maybe it's just a little "too early" in the year for them to begin posting to it and updating things?

Can't wait for those days. I was acutally thinking I would get outside and ride this weekend and just bundle up to no end. Well.... we are under a winter storm warning right now as the snow is beginning to pile up. Frown Just can't catch a break this winter.

Agree completely. It just seems like there should be more to it. Why can't it even have a full page, maybe I am getting technical but crap, just a nicer looking, easier to get around site would make me feel like they are putting forth the best experience for my $500+ dollars. (rant over)

The site never got any better last year and I doubt much will change in 09.  Why are you focusing on the site anyway, you have an IM to train for!!

Here is a MUCH better IMKY Site:

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=136239&start=326&posts=338

Pretty much anything you never wanted to know about the race can be found at that URL.

Little bit of a rant here......I am REALLY looking forward to daylight savings time! I'm doing the LoneStar HIM the first week of April, and I'm lucky to be out on the bike twice a week. I usually get a good ride in on Saturdays, but I'm not willing to ride in the dark during the week. Once DST hits, I should be able to bump it up to 3/4 rides a week.

I am ready for spring so I can ride outside.  I am not hard core enough to ride in the snow/ice or freezing temps.  The trainer just doesn't cut it.

Here in MI we had a bit of a tease last week when it was like 60 degrees.  This morning when I got into the car it was 15 degrees.  Talk about a temperature swing!

This is totally true, and I've been doing that!  It's just that it would be nice to see a decent webpage...maybe read a couple stories about fellow age-groupers who have signed up for 2009, some inspirational this or that, tips/tricks/and suggestions, a IMKY store, you know...something pretty standard.

I don't know, maybe it's just me.  It just seems like they could do a lot more.  BUT, in the end you're right, it's all about the training!

I know it's way early to start freaking out but this is my first IM in only my 2nd season of triathlon.  I've been training since Oct. on a plan from a local coach who has a lot of IM distance experience...but still, it's looming.  I can't wait though... No matter what this will be a summer of first's for me.  A brief rundown of the next several months: my first TT, marathon, 1/2 IM, IM!  Give me some love... some support... word of encouragement... something!  Thank the lord for BT!

This is my first IM as well and I am going to do my first HIM also. I am also in my second season of triathlon. I feel your anxiety. Everyone tells me following a plan is a a good thing. From a coach is even better. I guess we will find out in august huh..

I completed my first HIM and my second HIM concurrently on the same day that I completed my first IM.  :-)

I'm gnawing at the bit to get out an train and am more anxios than a kid waiting for Christmas morning for the first warm day of sping where it's 60 degrees at the start of a 0530 ride!

RE a plan and/or a coach.  I think it really depends on the type of person you are and on your goals and expectations.  I suck at following directions and advice.  Why is it that those who insist on always giving advice are the least likley to take advice?  :-)  My 'training sessions' are all identical with the only varibale being volume.  I don't change pace or exertion or speed or use paddles or buoys or so fartleks or intervales or speed drills or hill work of anything else that one normally associates with 'training'  I just swim, bike and run becasue I love it!  For an IM, I just swim, bike and run a lot more than usual and the only 'training' aspect is s/b/r on the times I'd rather not.  I just shoot for 10 to 15 hrs a week training and I figure that is all I can (or want) to do.
