Jim Wow that is great. Way ahead of where I am at. I have been doing some 2 hour trainer rides on the weekend and am up to about 6 or so miles on the treadmill. Swimming is going well but I have not been spending as much time on that as I should. Can't wait for the nice weather to get here. This sucks! |

You sure you'll be up for that?!

Regular 277 Holland, MI | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I've seen a couple of other people comment on this before but what is up with the "Official Website?" It's the biggest POS... I know that the website is a minor part of everything but it would be nice to have at least some current information on it. It is by far the weakest of all the IM websites that I've seen out there. Anyone agree? Was it like this last year as well... maybe it's just a little "too early" in the year for them to begin posting to it and updating things? |

Here is a MUCH better IMKY Site:

Pretty much anything you never wanted to know about the race can be found at that URL. :-) ~Mike |

I'm doing the LoneStar HIM the first week of April, and I'm lucky to be out on the bike twice a week. I usually get a good ride in on Saturdays, but I'm not willing to ride in the dark during the week. Once DST hits, I should be able to bump it up to 3/4 rides a week. |

This is totally true, and I've been doing that! It's just that it would be nice to see a decent webpage...maybe read a couple stories about fellow age-groupers who have signed up for 2009, some inspirational this or that, tips/tricks/and suggestions, a IMKY store, you know...something pretty standard. I don't know, maybe it's just me. It just seems like they could do a lot more. BUT, in the end you're right, it's all about the training! I know it's way early to start freaking out but this is my first IM in only my 2nd season of triathlon. I've been training since Oct. on a plan from a local coach who has a lot of IM distance experience...but still, it's looming. I can't wait though... No matter what this will be a summer of first's for me. A brief rundown of the next several months: my first TT, marathon, 1/2 IM, IM! Give me some love... some support... word of encouragement... something! Thank the lord for BT! |

I completed my first HIM and my second HIM concurrently on the same day that I completed my first IM. :-) I'm gnawing at the bit to get out an train and am more anxios than a kid waiting for Christmas morning for the first warm day of sping where it's 60 degrees at the start of a 0530 ride! RE a plan and/or a coach. I think it really depends on the type of person you are and on your goals and expectations. I suck at following directions and advice. Why is it that those who insist on always giving advice are the least likley to take advice? :-) My 'training sessions' are all identical with the only varibale being volume. I don't change pace or exertion or speed or use paddles or buoys or so fartleks or intervales or speed drills or hill work of anything else that one normally associates with 'training' I just swim, bike and run becasue I love it! For an IM, I just swim, bike and run a lot more than usual and the only 'training' aspect is s/b/r on the times I'd rather not. I just shoot for 10 to 15 hrs a week training and I figure that is all I can (or want) to do. ~Mike |
