Technical "Challenge" question:  I am pretty wiped out after doing two half marathons on consecutive weekends.  I'm not injured, but without a ton of miles on my legs I just feel fatigued.  I am supplementing my road running with pool running this month.  I am logging these workouts as "aqua jogging" and not standard runs.  But, am I allowed to include them with my running tally for the challenge?  Any thoughts?

That's a good question.  I would think you could either use it as a time goal or if you know your usual pace convert the aqua time into land miles.  But the real question is should you be take more actual rest days in order to fully recover?

We have a lot of training & racing left this season!

wgraves7582 - 2010-05-12 6:56 AM Well it is Wednesday and our son's good buddy is going in to have surgery to remove cancerous material in his knee area.  He is 13 y/o and I guess they call this Soft Tissue Cancer and it is not a good thing.  So far it is just in the knee area and has not spread so we are praying that they get it all and his recovery time is short with the required radiation treatments.  I just shake my head at the thought of that for a 13 y/o having to endure that.  His name is Cory and if you could pray for him as well I would greatly appreciate it.

Wow - a new type of cancer I haven't heard about and at 13 y/o. Prayers being sent for Cory and for your family.

Stacie

I heard about a new type of cancer yesterday that I hadn't heard of before. Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma or Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia.  It represents about 1.5% of all non-Hodgkins lymphomas so its pretty rare. My dad was diagnosed with it and starts chemo Monday. Please remember him (his name is Dave) as you continue to pray for Cory.

Such terrible news.  I will keep them in my thoughts and hope for the best possible outcome for them both.

Oh my goodness!  Positive thoughts to everyone!

We should do a Relay for Life inspired challenge in July.

Good morning,

I'm working from home today so I can afford to be a little more chatty with no one looking over my shoulder

Had a good swim this morning. I'm right on target with swimming and running but I lost a bike commute (due to chafing) but hope to make it up during the month.

Good morning team.  I've been MIA for some time, but I've been getting my workouts in here and there.  Don't see any reason I shouldn't be able to hit 100% this month.

Sending out prayers for Dad Dave and Friend Cory.

Stacie - glad everything is starting to look up for you guys.  I'm next door in Arkansas, so we had out bout with the tornadoes last week.  I think we have more on tap for this afternoon and tomorrow.

With that being said, I'm pretty sure my long ride will be rained out tomorrow.  Booo!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Emmanem - good luck on your race

I cut my afternoon ride short yesterday due to uncomfortable seat issues.  It's always something, isn't it.  Being a girl is tough.

I'm pretty much on track for my biking & strength/yoga goals.  Falling behind on swimming, but nothing I can't make up for.  And my run goal was pretty low (for me) since I didn't know how long it would take me to get back into it after my marathon.  This weekend I'm heading out of town to Wisconsin to get some hill training in, so I'll definitely be racking up some bike & run mileage!  I may even get an ows or two in if it's not too cold and I don't chicken out Tongue out

I have been toying with an idea - let me know if you think there would be any interest!

I am riding 1700 miles from June 4th - July 3rd.

I was thinking to see if there would be any teams of say 6 that would like to try and challenge that mileage and if they do I would put $20 a team towards the LAF or another Cancer Research and if they don't the team puts in $20 to the same foundation.

What do you think????

I would love to do this.  I'll have to check my training plan, race calendar, personal calendar to make sure I can handle the mileage.

On second thought, who cares if I can't get it done--it's for a great cause.  I'm in.

Allergies have hit me hard!  I feel lousy!  I may try to do a little bike ride later today but my window of opportunity (ie. childcare) is closing rapidly.  My husband is building a fence around our garden to keep the deer and dogs out of it.  Maybe he'll want to take a break in a couple hours so I can jet out on my bike.  Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Our Masters swim leader is going to Sudan for six months with Doctors Without Borders, so this morning was our last group swim with her. She will be without swimming water for six months! Can you imagine? We were already a loosely organized group; hopefully we'll be able to hold ourselves together until she comes back.
