Bill is worried about it getting to warm and its plenty cold here. Just got back from a bike ride. 16 F with just enough wind to get bonus points. I can't wait to calculate the points. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze a run in between work and having to get cleaned up for the family movie night. PS-I'm glad I dug out my tights this time. My ankles stayed warm. I need to figure out what to wear for real winter running... Pre winter here and you'll find me running in my summer favorite super thin capris. Usually cut off right below the knee, but one pair is just above the ankle. What are the chances of getting frost bite on the lower legs on a typical non-blizzard winter day? I know the answer to this... wear pants. All of my pants are loose on the bottom which will get that area of my leg all cold and wet anyway. What's worse, wet/cold/covered lower leg or dry/cold/bare lower leg? Any other suggestions for someone who can't pay $100 for winter running tights/pants right now? I bought some Sock Guy fuzzy kneesocks -- very cute and warm. I don't like frozen ankles. eta: I don't think I've paid more than $40 for a pair of winter running tights -- you can find some cheap closeout deals online. Knee socks are a great idea! I can wear them with my capris (pure style! lol) and not get any slush splash or water climbing up the pants. What online sources do you use to buy your tights? Oh it was a few years ago -- I don't remember the websites. I know they were all from clearance/closeout sections. Sorry I don't have more info to help you out! |

354 | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 Ran 26 miles on Saturday for 418.5 points! If I would have gotten out earlier I would have gotten even more, but I was helping my 15 year old son do farm chores for some friends of ours, brrrr! It was 13 degrees on Thanksgiving and only got up to 16 by the end of the day! Doing Run to the Ranch Marathon on the 19th of December in Springfield, Missouri. Bring on the snow! Nichi |

354 | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 sorry, haven't been around here, lately. Our church is doing the musical, "Two From Gallilee" and four out of the six of our family are in the production, so it has been a little hectic around here. We have performances this week from Wednesday to Sunday and yesterday, son and I did some volunteering for Operation Christmas Shoe Box in Minneapolis. Tired, but it's a good tired~ Nichi |

I also learned I despise treadmill running! You're coming home to snow and its warming up here. Its supposed to get up in to 40 over the weekend. Plus my wife and I are heading south for the weekend. My son is doing a concert at school and its only a couple of hours from there to Vegas and my wife wants to visit a couple of stores and have a nice dinner while we're there. No points this weekend for me. |

Extreme Veteran 464 Sault Ste (Siberia) Marie | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 Almost had a good day for points. I rode my bike to work and back. It was just to warm, upper 30's. Nice wind and snow though, with much more snow and cold weather coming in the next couple days. Should make up for what has been a slow week. |

I made sure to count them, but a few degrees colder and I would have been running to and from work for even more points. It is nice having a complete change of cloths at work so I can run in the morning. Makes for a good wake-up on the way and a nice stress reliever on the way home. |

Enjoy. I might even give you an extra point or two if you podium in a winter tri http://pedalpowerbike.com/ Tx Bill! Hope Santa Claus comes thru with those running snowshoes I asked for I'm doing a regular duathlon this weekend -- temps may get into the 50s! |

Champion 10019 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 My husband is already trained to think about the CWWC. He went out for a late night jaunt and says to me "You know, a girl could join me and get some good points". I said no thanks. Honestly, it was 10 pm. Even though it would have been worth about 5 factors, it was a pretty short ride for him and not worth getting dressed for riding to me. Maybe 50 points. He had to take a test ride on his new studded 29er tires |
