dcon - 2012-09-07 5:40 PM I went out yesterday afternoon for my first bike ride since the HIM last Sunday.  My original thought was just to get out and go easy for an hour.   When I started pedaling, my legs felt great and my power readings were higher than usual.  One thing led to another and the traffic lights all cooperated (first time ever I think) and I just kept riding hard.  I ended up having an impromptu TT of sorts.  When I checked out the data on my PC, I found that I had smashed all my existing CP values between 7 seconds and 60 minutes.  My new CP is 237 (up from 195) which is 4 watts/kg for me.  I am sure that all the Z3 riding and long rides I did in the last month (including the HIM ride) are what drove the improvement.   Anyway, I'm psyched.   If I can pick up one more watt/kg (no small feat I know), I will be approaching the times of the guys who podium in the races that I do.

Great job Dan!!!!  4W/KG is really high.  Are you sure you competition is doing better than that?  I find that kind of questionable.

Good luck tomorrow Suzy, kick some butt.

First Cross race of the season for me tomorrow, a bit out of shape but it will still be fun.

Just finished my Sunday morning ride, had a really good ride down to Mooloolaba and saw a pod of dolphins as I stopped for a quick coffee!

I got dive bombed by a magpie as I was cooling down, left a dent in my helmet and a scratch on my ear, do you get this sort of thing in the US? It happens every Spring here and lasts for about 8 weeks then they go back to being normal shy birds again. Last year a toddler was blinded in one eye by one!

I watched a few IM Moo videos on YouTube yesterday, looks like a fantastic event! What amazed me was the poor swimming technique of some of the people at the back, I can't imagine entering an IM and not being able to swim properly!

The website had some pictures of the lake yesterday, looks like it's going to be a beautiful flat calm swim. Have a great day Suzy and Christina!

Can't wait to track the Moogirls tomorrow! Day one down here-Zach crushed it. And his parents. 2:26 for the Oly. 28/595 overall, 2 in his a/g, unfortunately not a national slot, which was his goal. He'll try again in the sprint tomorrow. I added 12 minutes to ladt year's time-training may have helped. Zach did beat Jeff, which was his secondary goal!

A very early good Morning with only David online!  Many thunderstorms last night (glad I covered my bike bottle and didn't put in my salt tabs), but the weather looks clear and cool today with modest 10-15mph NNW winds to work with which will affect about 700-900m of the swim and the 16m stick coming back into town (Kim will get this) from the bike.  Went to bed at 8:30, slept until 11:30 and then woke up on the hour until I finally said screw it and got up at 2:20 instead of 3:00.

I'll do my best to make the SWBKRUN clan proud of me.

it doesn't happen enough and thats probably a good thing because it would probably get diluted... but long runs/rides are so much more fun and seemingly easier on Ironman weekend when one or more of us are racing.

Which one doesn't happen very often?

One of us racing an Ironman, or you doing a long ride and run?

Gotta jump into the IM tracking to post a little brag... My 10-year-old superstar daughter just ran her first 10K!! It was a very spur-of-the-moment decision to do a race that her BFF invited us to in June (and I forgot to register, ooops). After yesterday's soccer game, BFF's mom asked if we were running the IronGirl 5K today and I said, "Uhhhhh... can we register day-of?"

Wasn't sure if Shea would be up for it after a hard game and a long first week of school. Asked her and she was totally game, but thought a 5K sounded too easy -- she ran nearly 4.5 miles on the trails on Monday. I told her there was a 10K and she said she wanted to do that. Who am I to say no? So we hosted a BBQ last night and stayed up way too late and I got her up at 5:45am and off we went to register and run.

She tore it up!!! She was pretty grumpy from 1-2 miles and I thought this was a big mistake. But toward the end of 5K she found her mojo and took off and negative split and toward the end end she really cranked it up and averaged abotu 7:35 for the last .5 miles. I was trying to keep up with her, but she smoked me in the finish shoot. Love it!!! She had so much fun! Needless to say, so did I. RR to come very soon!

Meanwhile, back to IM stalking. Go girls!! And Linda, hoping you have had an awesome race too!!!!
