Thank you so much. I'm sure I'll have questions galore. I just went to the gym and then stopped at the bookstore to look at "Triathlete" magazine. Wow. Quite overwhelming. And the ads. I didn't know what lots of those gadgets were for. Or the food-type products.
Best advice I got starting out...keep it simple (pretty much like Saling said - except add the swim suit - no nekkid swimming, y'know ).
Swimsuit/goggles for the pool, water
Bike/helmet for the rides
Shoes for the run
For comfort -
comfortable clothes
sunscreen
sun glasses
water bottles
swim lessons (if need be )
running hat (baseball cap )
You can do it (and well ) with that much. Of course, if you like it, you'll find yourself buying all kinds of crap, but it can wait until after your first tri.
