This is my second season too! I don't think I'm going to get to do any longer races than an Olympic though. Go big or go home I guess!

Ditto for me too.  I am doing 1 maybe 2 Olympics and a few sprints.  Also my 2nd season of triathlons!

LOVE IT!  Does it encourage everyone else that the IMKY Race Group is so bad ?  I read an earlier post that you all did shirts last year to identify the BT'ers.  Any plans on doing this again?

jboeve - 2009-02-24 9:56 AM LOVE IT!  Does it encourage everyone else that the IMKY Race Group is so bad ?  I read an earlier post that you all did shirts last year to identify the BT'ers.  Any plans on doing this again?

Are you saying we suck at triathlons or we're rebel-rousers who got kicked off the Iron Distance board?

I started the IMKY tee-shirt idea last year but it was Kati who actually made my idea come to fruition.  As a group we designed the shirts and went thru different colors and designs.  BT emailed me the high-res BT graphics that I uploaded for the design.  Ironically, the BT logo did not come out as crisp as I thought it should have.  We chose yellow so it would stand out and be easy to spot.  Several jock-strappers and family members got too.  We wore the shirts at the banquet and also at the practive swim on Saturday morning.  It made it easy to find everyone having the shirt.  Oh yeah, and KSH (Karen) made name tags for the BTers at the banquet an this was very helpful too!

Anyway, the one problem with the cafepress.com and the other site too is that you have to order them all at the same time to get the group discount.  This means that SOMEONE had to volenteer to put up the money and order the shirts and wait for everyone to send her the money.  Then Kati had to put the shirts in envelops and mail them out to everyone that ordered/paid for one.  So.....we need a volunteer for this year!  :-)  Kati accepted personal check and pay pal.  Oh yeah, her added motivation for doing this was to collect a few dollars for a local charity she supports for kids.  She asked that for every shirt that was ordered you include at least $1 for this charity - most people gave much more and she raised quite a bit for these kids!

So we need a volunteer to be the IMKY Tee Shirt Lead and you can raise some money for charity while doing a great service for you fellow BTers!

I have a suggestion I'd like to put up for a vote.  Here is the charity we used last year:

http://www.garrettswings.org/

Please take a look at this site.  I can't look at the site for very long - the thought of terminally ill children cuases vision problems with my eyes.  Anyway, I reccomend that we make this "our" charity and again raise a few bucks as part of our IMKY shirt purchase.

~Mike

Here are a couple of pictues from last year.  The first one is called, "Mike and his BT ladies!"

The second was a shot of the yellow-shirted BTers at the banquet.  Thanks go to Garret for figuring out all the names!

Not sure how many of you are from the Louisville area, but I am here for a couple of days for work. I've been driving around just imagining what it will be like to swim in the river, and bike and run the streets. Simply can't wait for us to all get this show on the road.

If y'all aren't in a big hurry, I can handle ordering shirts BUT I am in the midst of tax season and I will have no time to spend on it until May.  If someone else wants to step up and get the ball rolling, that's great.  If not, I'm willing.

I don't think we need to do any tee-shirt design or ordering till June or July!  By then we'll all be in our peak training months and totally consumed with training and tee-shirt discussion and design will give us something to do besides s/b/r all the time!

I've seen a couple of other people comment on this before but what is up with the "Official Website?"  It's the biggest POS... I know that the website is a minor part of everything but it would be nice to have at least some current information on it.  It is by far the weakest of all the IM websites that I've seen out there.  Anyone agree?

Was it like this last year as well... maybe it's just a little "too early" in the year for them to begin posting to it and updating things?

Agree completely. It just seems like there should be more to it. Why can't it even have a full page, maybe I am getting technical but crap, just a nicer looking, easier to get around site would make me feel like they are putting forth the best experience for my $500+ dollars. (rant over)

The site never got any better last year and I doubt much will change in 09.  Why are you focusing on the site anyway, you have an IM to train for!!

O.C.D.! Laughing

This BT Video is more inspirational than ANY of the "official IM" sites.  Look at the joy and excitement in their eyes as they bring the Ironman spirit to life!

Note the following from Gaarryy after his IM finish "Mr. one and done" (liar) and Mike Rogillio finishing in his bright green t-shirt!

Mike,

I think I'll take you face out of this pic and photoshop mine in.  Boy you're a lucky guy-4 hot triathlon women to hold you up!

I'm starting to go a little bit nutty. I don't know if it's the lack of hard exercise for a few days or excitement about starting my plan next week. It's really starting to seem "real." The IM has seemed like some abstract thing that I know I'm doing sometime in future, maybe. And the last few days it's sort of been all consuming in my mind.

Anyway, I had a really vivid triathlon dream last night. There were BTers in it- most of whom I've never met in real life (This was a G rated dream, and no, I'm not mentioning names). Have a good Wednesday all!

Daily check-in... how is everyone's day doing?  How about training?  I leave for vacation this Sat. and will be missing several workouts but I'm looking forward to leaving the 15 degree weather and getting into some 85 degree weather!

Just got back form my swim, short one today. It's BEAUTIFUL outside and I wish I didn't have finals so I could ride outside!!  I noticed today that I've passed my swim distance from last month by over 6k, and I'm at my run milage from last month.  I think that's pretty cool, (considering January is 3 days longer too)! Need to get going on the bike though!

Training is going pretty well.  Yesterday I had a bad bike session, HR was really high.  For today's swim I just kept things slow and steady.....

Going well here. . not as much run mileage as I would like, but I spent a week in Colorado and then was sick for a couple of days.

I am ready for the warmer weather in the next months. . .. .that is for sure.

Had a trip to LA for the weekend, 65 and sunny. I wish I could bring the weather back home. I got a 15 mile run in and loved every minute, did not want to turn around. Oh well, in a couple of months we will be complaining it's too hot so I guess we should enjoy what we have .

My official training program starts this Monday! I am pumped to finally get on a plan and have it all organized. Doesn't mean I will be able to follow it to a T but at least I am not just doing what I feel like anymore. Can't wait to get going. Also I have a good friend of mine with a shirt shop that can make and design the shirts. I also have a charity (see below), so just let me know.

No heavy training here...yet.  I am working more on my swim and bike and laying off the heavy running for now to hopefully keep injuries down.  Working out 2 times a day three times a week and trying to do longer rides on the weekend, whenever the weather allows it.  I am so ready to be able to workout outside instead of in the gym.  I mean, I realize the gym serves its purposes, but man am I getting sick of that place!
