Great website about weight loss and why it is hard for so many of us and how to be more successful. It share information about learning how to think like thin folks.

Most diets fail as we don't have the skills to handle difficult situations.

I have just discovered the wonders of clementine oranges.  It almost feels like cheating to eat a couple of them, as they are so sweet.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I found these "organic fancy raisins".  It's a blend of golden, red and black raisins.....soooo yummy!

You can eat Kix!  Sugar is the 4th ingredient, and they are low in sugar - only 3 grams.

I found this recipe online, sounds pretty good.  I might make it to see how it turns out.

4.)  Birthday Cake Exception.  I'm superstitious. I admit it.  If you go to a birthday party, or it is your birthday - Yes, you can have one regular-sized piece of cake, regardless of what kind of cake it is.  You will not be dinged.  This is allowed.  If you'd like you can include Weddings and Anniversary parties, so long as the person is close to you.  Use your discretion.

I guess I need a ruling on the b-day cake exception...We threw a 40th aniversary party for my in-laws on Sat.  I told myself that I wouldn't have cake, b/c I was saving my mulligan for Sat. night when my husband and I get away for the night and a nice dinner.  Well, I had a moment of weakness and had a piece of anniversary cake - soooo not worth it.  That night, I didn't have any dessert b/c of it.

I got home today and read the rules again and saw the thing about annniversary/wedding cake at our "discretion" (unfortunately, my bad discretion got me where I am with my weight!)  Since I don't want to feel like a cheater - please be my jury.....does that peice of cake fall under the exemption or did I use my mulligan?  Whatever you guys decide I will go with.

On the up side - at the hotel, they had a basket of overpriced goodies and I found a Clif Nectar Bar. The ingredients are:  Organic dates, organic cashews, organic goji berries, organic lemon juice concentrate, organic vanilla!  I went ahead and bought it for a jaw-dropping $3.95 and split it with my husband.  We think it is pretty good and the fact that it is wrapped like a candy bar helps make it more of a treat! I've got to look for them at the store!

You are safe as far as assessing a ding. I know what you mean about the cheating. I feel like I am cheating now when I have a granola bar during training. Still down 1 lb, but I am lifting weights a lot to, so I can feel the body changing which is nice. maybe I can get a tape worm or something to ramp up the weight loss.

Being down over 10 lbs since December 14th through the holidays feels great though. And I can really say this contest is helping me. I am starting to see caloric numbers and sugar checkmarks in everything I eat. lol

A.) It's an anniversary & B.) They are certainly "close" to you.

No exception needed.  Rules state it's okay   If you go to an anniversary party or a wedding for someone you really don't know or do not have a "close" relationship with, then you cannot eat cake, without being dinged atleast

I used my mulligan today!  my friend made Steelers cupcakes for a friend's birthday...and I HAD to eat Jeff Reed, #3.   they tried to make me eat Troy Palomalu but I said no.

thanks for the kix!!  I thought I was stuck with puffed rice!

I'm not down any...in fact, I was so depressed yesterday and so craving sweets that it was good I realized I hadn't lost any, so I just ate my grapes.  yippee!

Wish I could find a clementine just to try.  they seem to only come in huge quantities.

I got an accidental ding yesterday for breakfast.  I knew better and had the appropriate substitute in the fridge.

I sat down with my wife for breakfast.  One of the things I enjoy on the weekend is a banana with some peanut butter.  Kind of a breakfast dessert. My wife will only eat Skippy.  She needed a new jar, so I got a new jar and opened it.  I got a banana and dug in. =(   I have organic, salt/sugar free in the fridge that I normally use.  I just plain forgot.  DING!  It's on the spreadsheet.

Had a killer headache this morning and had to take Excedrin to cure it.  Extra strong coffee didn't help.  I'm craving Ice Cream and Diet Coke right now.

Only down one pound so far. Hope I can keep it off.

Just wanted to say you guys are hard core and I love it!   I didnt get in on the challenge, I just found the challenge today, but I already was going Paleo diet this week to start the new year, and you have sparked a little more fire in me after reading this thread!  Ive done good with checking hte sugars, etc, and plan to really go back to sticking to it now!!   Last year, with all my training, I was in a CONSTANT state of recovery and could pretty much get away with eating almost anything for hours after almost everyday of working out a minimum of 2 hours.  Not so much this year.  Going to really have to focus after the "workout window".  !!  Good luck guys!

Hi everyone!  Haven't check in at all.  Sorry about that!  Internet connection has not been great.  I have not been nearly as strong as the rest of you.

I used my mulligan on Christmas eve.  My husband's grandmother makes delicious traditional Czech desserts and I cannot resist.  I was able to resist on Christmas day, though.  The sweets then were much easier to resist.

I have been having some nasty headaches that aren't gone yet.  May also be caused by lack of sleep.  PMS and no sugar = one crabby person right now.  Ugh.  Should be better in a day or two.  I'm hoping this is way easier when I'm at home.  It's hard to cook my own food and control as much what I am eating when staying with other people.
