PennState - 2009-06-05 4:50 PM I would highly prefer if it was NOT wetsuit legal!

Me too, I don't even know if I can get my fat arse in my suit. I should probably put it on before I come down there. Is there even a chance that it won't be wetsuit legal?

x3.  I despise my wetsuit.  I know everyone talks about the bouancy advantage, but the feeling of constriction makes it terrible.  I also am scared of trying to squeeze into mine

Yeah, yeah, yeah .....

I just picked up some IPA 60 to try since you guys recommended it.  Pretty tasty.  The cheap store I went to didn't have the 90 though.  I'll have to go to my usual really nice store to get that for you Fred.

I had 3 ........ as well as our first attempt at making strawberry martinis (a la Cheesecake Factory - they have the best strawberry martinis and Mir got the recipe from them).  Slightly tipsy right now!!  Good HTFU training.

jkholden - 2009-06-04 9:56 PM Any idea what the water temperature is????

Last year it was 78 (which really means it was probably 80, they just found the right place to measure it- in that river in particular, they absolutely want it to be wetsuit legal). Then again, between the air temp, the water temp, and the parking situation, almost everything that could go wrong did.  I did hear several stories of people overheating and taking the wetsuit off in the water.  Usually it's cooler, maybe low to mid-70s?

Yeah, but the air temp was around 90 last year.

This year it has rained a lot more (which makes it cooler) and it hasn't been that hot.

In all 3 years I've done the race, and the Chessieman I did in September one year in the same river, it has been wetsuit legal.  I don't see that changing any time soon.

Those are two totally different weather forecasts.

I haven't looked up directions yet, but I have a question.  I will be driving down 95.  Will I get off 95 before or after the really high bridge over the Susquehanna River?  I hate that bridge!

Dude ....... best of luck to them!  The cable routing on the Transition is a total b-tch!  Mine kept popping out and I eventually ran continuous housing through the entire frame.  Took me over an hour and a half to get it through doing everything from pulling the crank and bottom bracket to using every shop trick I knew!!

That was the one thing I disliked about that bike ........

Very cool, you have a new bike and nice wheels... excellente!

I'll  probably end up in the MOP... but atleast I'll be stylin'

Fred... I think it's time for you to take it to the next level.  You'd look good on something like this:

Just curious.... How do the tides affect swim conditions(current, chop, etc.)? I was just looking at a tidal chart, and it looks to me like we will be swimming with the tide coming in (flood begins at about 5:30 am, max flood at about 8:30). Just one more thing to obsess about...

ETA - oops, that info may be wrong.... just realized it's for a different point on the Choptank, and not sure how close it is to Cambridge....

Water temp yesterday I would say was around 70ish?!  Dolelcious and I waded around the waters after our ride yesterday and it was pretty decent.  Now this was at 1:00pm in the afternoon so I'm not sure how much warmer it will be at 7am.

Bummer about bike Fred.  Hope they can fix it.

Tell us how you really feel.  I actually just bought you the S-Works Transition and I was gonna surprise you with it down at E-Man.  Guess I'll just return it...
